HomeMy WebLinkAboutE- 6 Increase of $20,000 Blanket Purchase Order with Citrus Superior CourtCONSENT CALENDAR TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: KING DAVIS, CHIEF OF POLICE VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER DATE: MARCH 3, 2003 SUBJECT: INCREASE OF $20,000 TO THE BLANKET PURCHASE ORDER WITH CITRUS SUPERIOR COURT DUE TO INCREASED SURCHARGE COSTS FOR PROCESSING TRAFFIC CITATIONS FOR A NEW PURCHASE ORDER TOTAL OF $42,000. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve an increase of $20,000.00 to the blanket purchase order with Citrus Superior Court due to increased surcharge costs for processing traffic citations for a new purchase order total of $42,000. BACKGROUND Local law enforcement agencies are required to reimburse Citrus Superior Court for the cost of processing traffic violations. Purchase Order No. 310711 is issued by the City to cover these payments. Specifically, Government Code Sections 76000 et al. mandate collection of these surcharges for Courthouse Construction & Criminal Justice Facilities, Equipment & Registration Violations and Linkage Assessments (handicapped violations). Last year the City of Azusa collected $330,000 from parking citation/motor vehicle fines. This year we are projecting revenue of $421,000 due to increased emphasis on traffic enforcement. Because the number of violations processed by the Court has increased, the mandatory surcharges have also increased, necessitating an increase in the current blanket purchase order. FISCAL IMPACT This payment is a mandated surcharge from Citrus Superior Court and will be deducted from revenue account #10-20-310-000-4301. The 02/03 Public Safety Operating. Budget will not be impacted. Prepared by: E. Wanstrath
