SUBJECT: BID AWARD – COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT VEHICLES
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council award the successful bid to WestCovina Motors/Clippinger Chevrolet to
purchase 4 pickup trucks and 1 sport utility vehicle for the Building and Community Improvement Divisions of
the Community Development Department.
BACKGROUND
On December 2, 2002, the City Council approved bid specifications for the replacement of 5 aging Community
Development Department vehicles, and authorized formal bidding. While no formal bids were received in
response to the bid notification, three subsequent informal bids were received from the following dealerships:

West Covina Motors/Clippinger Chevrolet submitted the lowest bid, which would allow the purchase of four S-
10 pickup trucks, and one Trailblazer. Staff has attached the December 2, 2002 staff report, approved by City
Council, that details the vehicles being replaced by this purchase.
FISCAL IMPACT
The budgeted amount is $80,000, in accounts #10356200007135 and #10356430007135. While the total cost of
the vehicles will be $81,088, a transfer from the operations budgets of the Building and Community
Improvement Divisions will make up the $1,088 difference.
