SUBJECT: INCREASE OF $10,500 TO THE BLANKET PURCHASE ORDER WITH SAN GABRIEL
VALLEY NEWSPAPER GROUP.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve an increase of $10,500.00 to the blanket purchase
order with San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group to pay for the cost of publishing ordinances.
BACKGROUND
To be in compliance with the law, all public hearings notices, notices inviting bids, legal notices, and
adopted ordinances, are published in a newspaper of local circulation. Purchase Order No. B310238
is issued by the City to cover these publications with the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group.
Every fiscal year approximately $12,000.00 is allocated the blanket P.O., which covers the cost of
publishing for the entire year, of this amount $1,571.68 is remaining. Within the last two months
there were three extremely large ordinances adopted by Council, which cost $9,255.87 to publish.
Since there are still three months left in the fiscal year, we are requesting an additional amount of
$10,500.00 to cover the cost of publishing the ordinances, as well any other publishing that are
required through the remainder of the fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be no budget impact, since the 02/03 City Clerk Department’s budget, currently has the
funds available to cover for this cost.
