The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned regular session at the above time and place. Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order. Call to Order Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, Roll Call Memmesheimer Absent: Councilmen: Solem, McLees Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy, Deputy City Clerk Roehrich, City Clerk Miller The City Administrator submitted a letter from the Report by Fin. Finance Committee, recommending certain adjustments Com.,recommend- to reduce Account #6000 (Water Department) and Ing reductions Account #7000 (Light Department), with Water Depart- in L&W Depts. ment and Light Department reductions in the total Accts. amount of $51,380. The City Administrator recommended approval of these reductions. (accepted) Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried to accept the letter with recommendations from the Finance Committee, dated June 28, 1965, submitted by the City Administrator. The City Administrator read in full a Resolution Res. /#4869 adopting the budget for 1965-66, with appropriations adopting budget expressly continued and carried forward in the aggregate for fiscal year sum of $97,844. 1965-66 & appvg. appropriations Councilman Cooney offered for adoption the Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING THE BUDGET AND APPROVING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CITY OF AZUSA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 1965 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1966. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio that the Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and adopted by the following vote of Council: AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, Memmesheimer NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Solem, McLees, and numbered Resolution 4869. The City Clerk reminded Council that reservations for Auth. warrant the League of California Cities General Membership for reserv. for dinner meeting at the Hollywood Racetrack have to be L.C.C. genl. made by July 7, 1965• m'brship dinner @ Holly - Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman wood Racetrack Rubio and unanimously carried to permit attendance by any Department Heads who previously attended such general membership meetings, and authorize the City Clerk to cause a warrant to be issued covering the reservations made. The City Clerk submitted a communication from Bob Appvl.req.by M. Keyte, requesting approval of transfer of business B.M. Keyte for license of the Azusa Billiard Parlor, 613 N. Azusa trans.bus.lic. Avenue, now owned by Elvis D. Marshall. of Azusa Billiard Parlor, 613 N Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Mayor Memes- Azusa Ave. heimer and unanimously carried to approve the request, with the same conditons imposed on the former owner, Mr. Marshall. CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 1965 The Mayor submitted a notice from the County Commis- sion on Human Relations re: The Urban Fbality Confer- ence to be held on Thursday, 7/1/65, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles (conference and luncheon, $4.00 each). The Mayor suggested that Councilman Rubio attend. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio ' and unanimously carried that Councilman Rubio be author- ized to attend the Conference and luncheon. Police Chief Kendrick submitted a request for author- ization for Capt. J. W. Warren to attend the annual Conference of International Association for Identifica- tion, to be held in Long Beach, July 18 thru 23, 1965, with total expenses not to exceed $60 including regis- tration, mileage to and from the conference, and lunches. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried to approve the request, with reimbursement of accountable expenses for registration and lunches, excluding mileage cost. The City Administrator submitted a reportof the Special Traffic Committee, appointed 6/7/65 to study traffic conditions in the Powell School area between Citrus and Ben Lomond Avenues, and Mauna Loa and Alosta Avenues. The report contained the following recommenda- tions: 1. Establish a left -turn lane, Citrus Avenue south- bound at intersection of Mauna Loa, 2. Eliminate parking both sides of Citrus Avenue at Mauna Loa intersection as required. 3._Install additional parking restrictions as re- quired in the areas of fire hydrants, stop signs and cross -walks. 4. Request the Azusa Unified School District to sur- face the existing walkway on west side of Calera Avenue from termination of present sidewalk northerly to Hollyvale Street. 5. In accordance with established policy, do not recommend construction of sidewalks on north side of Mauna Loa between Powell School and Citrus Avenue until such time as the private property owners wish to construct. 6. Request Los Angeles County Road Department to make their own independent survey of traffic con- ditions at the intersection of Citrus and Mauna Loa as a portion of said intersection is located in the County. ' 7. No immediate solution to the elimination of storm water in this area, but the County Storm Drain Bond Program does provide for the installation of storm drains, with approximate construction date within two years. J.W.Warren @Internatl.Assn. for Identif.Conf Long Beach, 7/18 thru 23, w/reimb. acct. expenses The report further recommended that if this report meets the approval of Council that steps be taken immediately to pro- ceed with these recommendations.
