The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order and
led in the salute to the flag.
Invocation was given by Rev. Wallace Carlson of the
Village Covenant Church.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney,
Mc Lees,Memmesheimer
Absent: Councilmen: Solem
Also Present: City Attorney Williams, City Adminis-
trator Foxworthy, City Engineer Sandwick,
Superintendent of Light & Water Smith,
City Clerk Miller
Moved by Councilman Mc Lees, seconded by Councilman
CC Rubio and unanimously carried that Councilman Solem be
excused from the meeting.
The Minutes of the meeting of July 19, 1965, were
approved as submitted.
The City Clerk announced that bids were opened in his
office at 10:00 a.m, on Thursday, July 303 1965, for
the purchase of two (2) 4 -door Pontiac sedans, for the
Police Department. Present at bid opening were: City
Administrator Foxworthy, Police Chief Kendrick, Assistant
' City Engineer Lindsey, City Clerk Miller.
The City Clerk presented the affidavit of proof of
publication of the Notice Inviting Bids, published on
July 18, 1965, in the Azusa Herald & Pomotropic.
Two (2) bids were received, as follows:

A joint recommendation was received from the City
Administrator and the Chief of Police that the contract
be awarded to Bob Longpre Pontiac, Inc., low bidder.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that the low bid of Bob Longpre
Pontiac, Inc., for $5,513.31 be accepted for two 1966
Pontiac sedans, and that refund of deposit on bid be
returned to unsuccessful bidders.
' The City Clerk presented several communications he had
received from businesses in Azusa protesting the opera-
tion of the "Swap Meet", conducted at the Foothill
Drive -In Theatre, in the City of Azusa.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman
Mc Lees that the City Attorney prepare an Ordinance
similar to the City of Whittier's with $25 annual
license fee plus $25 for each day Meet is held;
Councilman Rubio voted No.

After discussion, it was

Mc Lees and unanimously carried that the previous
motion be recinded, and that the City Attorney pre-
pare an Ordinance similar to Whittier's with $50 annual

Wershow Co. (auctioneers) to hold a 1 -day auction Charles J.

Moved by Councilman Mc Lees,.:seconded by Councilman
Cooney and unanimously carried that this matter be
referred to the City Administrator, City Engineer and
City Attorney to obtain information for use by Council
in this situation, and report back to Council on
August 16, 1965.
A request was submitted for the annexation of a portion Req.for Annex.

Upon the request of the City Council the Engineering
Department contacted the six property owners on E.
1st Street who requested construction of sewers. Only
two indicated their willingness to immediately connect
if this sewer were constructed; Elmer D. O'Marr, 519
E. 1st Street and Stanford G. Keith, 539 E. let Street.

Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman
Rubio and unanimously carried that Council approve
extension of the sewer line (approximately 250 ft.)
from 511 to 539 E. lst Street, directing that funds
now in the Sewer Revolving Fund be used for this
purpose.
' A notice was received from the Foothill Freeway
Association for a groundbreaking luncheon, to be
held at the Monrovia Elks Lodge, Tuesday, August 10,
at 12:15 p.m.

Mayor Memmesheimer introduced the Honorable Harvey Intro.of Hon.
Johnson, Assemblyman of the 58th District, who, in H.Johnson &
