HomeMy WebLinkAboutF- 5 Staff Report Traffic Signal Improvemnt Completion Notice CONSENT CALENDAR TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: NASSER ABBASZADEH, CITY ENGINEER VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER DATE: JUNE 16, 2003 SUBJECT: PROJECT COMPLETION NOTICE - TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF GLADSTONE AND PASADENA RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Approve project completion notice for the Traffic Signal Improvements at the Intersection of Gladstone and Pasadena completed by LA Signal, Inc., in the amount of $73,606.10. 2. Approve extras in the project budget in the amount of $6,110.10, a budget transfer, and an increase in the applicable Purchase Order. BACKGROUND LA Signal Incorporated completed installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Gladstone and Pasadena on May 19, 2003, in accordance with approved plans and specifications. The new traffic signal is a two-phased system to allow for alternate movements on Gladstone and Pasadena as well as safe passage for pedestrians crossing. In the course of construction, extra work was necessary to: 1. Work around high powered overhead lines 2. Pothole and hand dig to ascertain the exact location of utility lines, and 3. Change out the regular pedestrian crossing indications to the new “count down” system for greater effectiveness in warning pedestrians to cross the roadway safely. The above extra work totaled $6,110.10. FISCAL IMPACT The original contract price was $67,496.00 and the final price, including extras, is $73,606.10. The extra amount of $6,110.10 will be transferred from 128-000-661-7172-66103A. Attachment: Notice of Completion
