Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order and led in the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Rev. W. C. Schnute of Concordia Lutheran Church. Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, Solem, McLees, Memmesheimer Minutes of the meeting of 2/7/66 were approved as submitted (quickie minutes). The City Clerk announced that bids were opened in his office for fixtures and switchgear for sports lighting system in Memorial Park. Five bids were received, the low bid being Electric Supply Distributors in the amount of $8,844.08. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried by roll call to accept the low bid, and d+ return bid bonds to unsuccessful bidders. N 10 The City Clerk announced that bids were opened in his office x for furnishing and installing Underground Electric Distribu- tion System in Tract #25309. It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Light & Water that Council reject all bids and the construction be done with City forces. The City Clerk announced that bids were opened in his office for materials only for Tract #25309. 'It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Light & Water to accept the low bid of Electric Supplies Distributing Company in the amount of $759.10. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman McLees and unanimously carried by roll call to accept the recom- mendation of the Superintendent of Light & Water. The City Clerkannounced that bids were opened in his office of one 300-KVA Transformer. It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Light & Water to accept the low bid of Maydwell & Hartzell, Inc. in the amount of $2,435.00. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried by roll call to accept the recom- mendation of the Superintendent of Light & Water. Determination of ownership re: vacation of Santa Fe Ave. between Vernon & Louise Avenues, with easements retained, which was tabled from the 2/7/66 meeting was again brought before Council. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried to raise from table. CV Upon study and recommendation by Mr. Gold, of Gold Assoc. revised specifications for Police Lieutenant and Police x Sergeant were submitted for consideration. Basically, the A revision consists of transferring the duties of the Services Division Commander from that of Sergeant to Lieutenant, thereby making the position of Lieutenant a three position (rather than two) class, and placing the Services Division Commander,under the direction of the Police Captain. -I Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried by roll call to approve the recommendations. At request, of Council a joint meeting was held by the Personnel Board, City Administrator and the Fire and Police Cheifs. Hadley, member of the Los Angeles firm of Musick, Peeler and Garrett spoke on behalf of Nathan Krems, of the Azusa Properties Company. He requested that Council commit this for further study that they could give some assurance to those with whom they have'imade legal contractual committments; and that this enterprise and expansion of the facility in the City of Azusa to some fruition. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman McLees and unanimously carried that the request of Azusa Properties,, Inc., be taken under consideration, for report at next Council meeting. Request approval of specifications and authorization for I bid call for 9,724 lbs. of copper wire. Request approval of specifications and authorizing bid call for 70 - 1' water meters, estimated at $4,900. The City,Clerk read in full a Resolution authorizing payment of warrants by the City. Councilman Solem offered the Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND SPECIFYING THE FUNDS OUT OF 4HiICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID.
