The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order.
Present at Roll Call: Rubio, Cooney, .Solem, McLees,
Memmesheimer
Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy,
City Clerk Miller
A Resolution was presented honoring Mrs. Mable DeVol, R.N.,
for her contribution to the community as a nurse for almost
40 years with Inter -Community Hospital.
The Resolution was read in full.
Councilman McLees offered the following Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
HONORING MRS. MABLE DeVOL, R.N., FOR FE'R CUNTRIBUTION
TO ALL MANKIND AND PARTICULARLY TO THE RESIDENTS OF
THE EAST SAN GABRIEL VALLEY AREA AND FOR HER DEDICATION
TO THE MEANINGFUL PERFORMANCE OF HER PROFESSION.
Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem
that the Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, Solem, McLees, Memmesheimer
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSEV: Councilmen: None and numbered Resolution 501.8.

City Clerk Miller stated that by Resolution No. 500F,
adopted April 4, 1066, the City Clerk was authorized to
canvass ttie results of the General. Municipal Election held
on April 1.2, 1966) and read the City Clerk's Certificate
of Canvass, copies of which were distributed to Council.
City Clerk Miller also stated that the Certificate of
Canvass will be attached as Exhibit "A" to a Resolution
declaring the results of the Municipal Election.
Councilman McLees offered the following Resolution:
A RESOL11TION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF AZUSA ON THE 12TH DAY OF
APRIL, 19665 DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election
was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, County of
Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 12th
day of April, 1366, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and
regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by
law; that voting precincts were properly established;
that election officers were appointed and that in all
respects said election was held and conducted and the
votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and the re-
turns made and declared in time, form and manner as
required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the
State of California for the holding of elections in
c'.ties; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 5005 adopted
the 4th day of April, 1066, the City Clerk of the City of
Azusa canvassed the returns of said election and has cer-
tified the results to this City Council, said results are
received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A."

CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, APRIL 195 1966
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there was 18 voting precincts
established for the purpose of holding said election
consisting of consolidations of the regular election
precincts in the City of Azusa as established for the
holding of state and county elections.
' SECTION 2. That said regular general municipal
election was held for the purpose of electing the following
officers of said City as required by the laws relating to
cities in the State of California, to wit:
Three Members of the City Council of said City
for the full term of four years;
SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast
in said City (except absent voter ballots) was 2,227.
That the whole number of absent voter ballots
cast in said City was 30, makinga total of 2,257 votes
cast in said City.
SECTION 4. That the names of persons voted
for at said election for Member of the City Council of
said City are as follows:
EDWARD A. COONEY
LOUIS G. MEMMESHEIMER
JENS J. SOLEM
CALIXTO CAL) MUNOZ
ANTHONY TONY) M. ORTUNO
EUGENE OSKO
That the r:umber of votes given at each precinct
and the number of votes given in the City to each of such
persons above named for the respective offices for which
said persons were candidates were as listed in Exhibit "A"
attached.
SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and
determine that:
Edward A. Cooney was elected as Member of the
City Council of said City for the full term of
four years;
Louis G. Memmesheimer was elected as Member of
the City Council of said City for the full term
of four years;
Jens J. Solem was elected as Member of the City
Council of said City for the full term of four
years;
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the
records of the City Council of said City, a statement of
the result of said election, showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in the city;
(2) The names of the persons voted for;
(3) For what office each person was vated for;
(4) The number of votes given at each precinct
to each person;
(5) The number of votes given in the city to
each person.

SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall immediately
make and, upon compliance by the persons elected with the
provisions of Section 11565 and Section 1.1568 of the Elections
Code of the State of California, shall deliver to each of such
persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by him and
duly authenticated; that he shall also administer to each per-
son elected, the Oath of Office prescribed 9.n the State Con-
stitution of the State of California and stall.have them
subscribe thereto and file the same in his office. Whereupon,
' each and all of said persons so elected shall be inducted
into the respective office to which they have been elected.
SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter
the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City;
and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of
said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same
is passed and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of
April, 1966.

Los Angeles, State of California, duly authorized by Resolution
No. 5005, adopted by the City Council of said City on the 4th
day of April, 1966, do hereby certify that I have canvassed the
'returns of the regular general municipal election held in said
city on the 12th day of April, 1966, and find that the number
of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given
in the City to persons voted for, the respective offices fo
which said persons were candidates were as follows:

Moved by Councilman M. -Lees, seconded by Councilman Rubio
that the Resolution be adopted. Resolution was then passed
and adopted by the above listed vote of Council, and numbered
Resolution 5010.
The City Clerk having received and filed an affidavit of Certif.
campaign expenses from each of the candidates, as required of
by law, Lie presented a Certificate of Election to each of Election

The Honorable William Martin, Judge of the Citrus Municipal Oath of
Court, then administered the Oath of Office to the three Office
new members of the City Council.
Mayor Memmesheimer asked for any comments by the newly
elected members of Council.
Councilman Solem expressed his thanks to the public for
its confidence in him.

The City Clerk, presiLing as Chairman, asked for nominations Mayor chosen

Councilman Rubio nominated Louis G. Memmesheimer.
Councilman Cooney seconded the nomination.

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that the nominations be closed.
By unanimous vote of Council., Louis G. Mciranesheimer was
lected as Mayor.
yor Memmesheimer thanked the members of Council for
(,heir faith in selecting him as Mayor for the next two
,years.
Mayor Memmesheimer then took the Chair and called for
nominations for Mayor Pro 'tempore.
Councilman Solem nominated Edward A. Cooney.
There being no otter nominations, it was

and unanimously carried that the nominations be closed.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman So.lem
and unanimously carried that a unanimous ballot be cast
in favor of Edward A. Cooney.
Moved by Counc=ilman McLoes, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried that the meeting be adjourned.
