The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order and led Call to Order
in the salute to the flag.

tinued public hearing on an appeal for granting of
Variance by P.C. Resolution #590, to permit construction
of single-family residence on non -conforming lot created
by an illegal lot split of 2 lots, known as 1038 N. 6un-

Continued Public Hearing on appeal from denial of Variance
to allow residential uses in C-3 zone, but more particularly
to use existing unoccupied apartments over commercial stores

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
that Variance be granted subject to correction of all
conditions set forth in the letter from the Fire Dept.
and Building Inspector, dated 5/25/66 and in the letter
of Robert J. Cowden, dated 3/23/66, and that existing
parking lot be paved according to City standards;
also subject to complaince with all requirements of
Building Code and State Housing Laws before residency is
permitted. Councilman Mc Lees cast a dissenting vote.
The hour of 7:30 p.m. being the time set for the public
hearing on appeal from granting of Conditional Use Per-
mit by P. C. Res. #603 (Case C-59) on application of
Arlene M. Line, to permit a Day Nursery in an R -lc zone
on property at 300 S. Orange Ave., legally described as
Lot 1, Tract 15711.
Mrs. Barbara R. Duke, property owner at 312 So. Orange
Ave., Azusa, sent letter protesting the granting of
a Conditional Use Permit.
The Azusa Chamber of Commerce submitted a letter stating
they feel that this enterprise is one which deserves
the cooperation and support of the community.

and unanimously carried to close the hearing.

and unanimously carried that the City Attorney prepare
a Resolution amending the Civil Service Rules and Regu-
lations as outlined.
A communication was received from the Park and Recrea- Rename Park
tion commission with the recommendation that the Park 01st & Virginia
at 1st and Virginia be renamed in honor of our Sister to Zacatecas
City, Zacatecas, Mexico. and that a formal dedication
ceremony be planned preferably around September 16, 1966
with the thought that perhaps a delegation from Zacatecas
be invited and present at the dedication.
