SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF “DIA DE LOS NIÑO’S” GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE
LIBRARY
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $500 from the California State Library to
support Dia de los Niño’s events. This action accepts the grant award and approves a corresponding budget
amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the grant award from the California State Library; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Library is the recipient of the California State Library “Dia de los Niño’s” grant. This grant provides funds
to enhance programs and celebrations. Dia de los Niño’s is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the
importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. The goal of the day of celebration is linking children
and their families to diverse books, languages and cultures.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions; this grant will support funding the Dia de los
Niño’s program. Upon Council acceptance of the grant, Finance staff will amend the FY2020-21 budget
consistent with the grant award amount.
