F-8
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: ANN GRAF, DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND LIBRARY
SERVICES
DATE: APRIL 19, 2021
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LIBRARY COOPERATIVE
AND THE STATE LIBRARY FOR RESOURCES TO BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $7,000 from the Southern California Library
Cooperative (SCLC) and the California State Library. This action accepts this grant award and approves a
corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the Grant award from the SCLC and California State Library; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Library is the recipient of funding to acquire technology to assist in bridging the digital divide. The Azusa
Library will use this funding to purchase Chromebooks to be used in the Library to extend our offering of public
access to computers and WiFi hotspots that can be checked out. The Southern California Library Cooperative
(SCLC) and the State Library are partnering together to bring this opportunity to all CIPA compliant California
Libraries
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions; this grant will support the Blast Off program.
Upon Council acceptance of the grant, Finance staff will amend the FY20-21 budget consistent with the grant
award amount.
