CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, JANUARY 16, 1967
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to Order and
led in the salute to the flag.
Invocation was given by Reverend Dean F. Kla rr, Jr.,
of the First Presbyterian Church.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen:Rubio, Cooney, Solem,
Mc Lees, Memmesheimer
Also Present: City Attorney Williams, City Administrator

There being no corrections or additions, Council Actions

Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman Cooney of Haltern St.,
and unanimously carried to receive and file affidavits A.D.#1966-1
of publication, posting and mailing. 1911 Act
The City Clerk received written protest from Mr. and Mrs. Proceeding
Welling and written petition of protests containing terminated &
twenty-one and one-half signatures of 34 lots in the Dismissed
district. None desired to be heard.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried to close hearing.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried that Council make a finding that
there is a protest made by more than one-half of property
owners to be assessed for improvements and that no
further proceedings be taken , and that this proceeding
be terminated and dismissed.

and unanimously carried that Jett's Petting Zoo not being
categorized under Azusa Municipal Code, it shall be
classified a miscellaneous business at $25 fee, and that
license be granted to Jett's upon receipt of fee.
A Notice was received from the League of California Cities LCC luncheon mtg
of a luncheon meeting, 1/20/67, at the Huntington Hotel re:development o

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried that any Council Members able to
attend, and City Administrator, be authorized to do so,
with the City to reimburse expenses. The Mayor suggested
that the City Clerk be notified by those able to attend,
in order to make proper reservations).
A request was received from the Los Angeles County Delin-
quency and Crime Commission for Council's adoption of an
Ordinance similar to County Ordinance 9258 regarding
Juvenile loitering law, in lieu of curfew ordinance.

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio Ltr.to be sent
and unanimously carried that the communication be filed. to Delinquency
& Crime Comm.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Cooney re: curfew &
and unanimously carried that a letter be directed to the loitering of
Delinquency and Crime Commission, enclosing a copy of juveniles
City's existing curfew Ordinance, which appears to satis-
factorily handle the subject matter.

Consideration of corrected fee schedule for employment of
F. E. MacDonald regarding the appraisal of Consolidated
Rock Products Co. condemnation suit (Todd Avenue),
relative to hours of service for $300 retainer.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Mc Lees
' and unanimously carried to amend the motion of employment
of F. E.MacDonald to read $300 for the first 15 hours
instead of $300 for first 50 hours of service, on the
grounds that it was the original intention and was a
typographical error.

A communication was received from the Foothill School Groups to meet
PTA regarding the Azusa Teen Post. re: Azusa Teen

and unanimously carried that this matter be continued to 2/207
meeting, and that letters be sent to representatives from
the Pomona Office of EYOA, local representatives, sponsor-
ing body, PTA's, and Recreation Director Dangleis, invit-
ing them to 2/20/67 meeting to explain the program to
Council.
A request•was received from the Library Board for the Req.for items
purchase of two tables, a fifty cup coffee urn, table for Library Bd.
cloths, candlesticks, etc., for use in civic activities.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that the purchasing agent, Mr.
Foxworthy, obtain prices of articles requested, for sub-
mission to Council.
The Treasurer's Financial Statement for the month ending Treas.Financial
December 31, 1966, was presented to Council, showing Bank Statement
Balances of all funds as of that date to be $1,020,739.73. ($13020,739.73)

A communication was received from the Park and Recreation App.attend.@
Commission requesting authorization for attendance of Annual Calif. -
Mr. Sandwick, Mr. Dangleis and two members of the Com- Pac.S.W.Conf.of
mission at the Annual California -Pacific South West Park Park & Rec.
and Recreation Conference at Fresno, 2/25 thru 3/1, with Fresno,2/25-3/1
$200 each accountable expenses to be reimbursed.

extension to 6/16/67 for demolition of a substandard demolition of
structure #147 at 153 North Alameda Ave. Legal owner Mrs. sub -standard bld,
Candido Moronez, due to present financial difficulties. 153 N.Alameda

The City Administrator submitted preliminary plans for Accept prelim.
' beautification of 9 divider islands within the City, with plans for beauti,
estimated cost of $1,285 each island, including sprinkling of 9 divider

A communication was received from the S.G.V. Symphony S.G.V.Symphony
Association, requesting that a letter be directed to req.grant of
L. A. County Supervisor Bonelli, asking for his favorable $10,000.from
recommendations to the Music Commission for a grant of Music Comm.in
$10,000 in the 1967-68 music budget. the 1967-68
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Mc Lees Music Budget
and unanimously carried that the Mayor be authorized to
write a letter as requested by the Symphony.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio Protest against
and unanimously carried that the City be authorized to proposed gamblinj
write a letter of protest against proposed gambling in City of Irwin -
the City of Irwindale, as this would not be beneficial dale
to the community and would create problems.
The City Administrator submitted a report to Council Rpt.on Damage
on damage to 1958 Dodge Dump Truck, amounting to to 1958 Dodge
approximately $321, and requesting Council's wishes Dump Truck
as to handling of repairs, as this truck was to be
traded -in. Mayor suggested that damaged truck be submitted
as is. No action taken by Council.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio Adjourn
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
