PERSONNEL OFFICE AZUSA, CALIFORNIA WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 1967
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above time and place.
Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, Solem,
McLees, Memmesheimer
Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy,
Deputy City Clerk Roehrich
The Finance Committee minutes of May 16, 1967, were
presented to Council.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried that receipt of the minutes and
recommendations of the Finance Committee of May 16, 1967,
be acknowledged.
City Clerk Miller entered the meeting at 7:09 p.m.
A memo from the Chairman of the Personnel Board, dated
May 17, 1967, was submitted, recommending classification
specifications and salary for Accounting Director.
After discussion, it was moved by Councilman McLees,
seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried
that the recommendation of the Personnel Board be
approved, with deletion of the words "and purchasing",
and insertion of the word "and" in place of comma be-
tween the words "accounting, auditing", on the second
line of the Job Summary for Accounting Director.
Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman McLees
and unanimously carried that the City Attorney prepare
the necessary Resolutions.
Moved by Councilman Solem, ;seconded by Councilman Cooney
and unanimously carried that the Personnel Board be
notified to proceed with advertising for the position
of Accounting Director.
A further memo from the Chairman of the Personnel
Board was also submitted, recommending revised class-
ification specifications and salary for City Engineer.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman
McLees and unanimously carried that the recommendation
of the Personnel Board and new job classifications for
City Engineer be accepted.
Council considered the recommendation of the Finance
Committee that an additional Account Clerk be authorized
for the period of time pending the selection of a new
Accounting Director and/or through the end of July, 1967,
to assist the Accounting Department through the period
of closing the 1966-67 fiscal year and the opening of the
new fiscal year 1967-68.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried to approve the addition of a
temporary Account Clerk in the Accounting Department at
Step 1, Range 14, for the period of time pending the
selection of a new Accounting Director and/or through
the end of July, 1967.
The City Clerk requested Council action re: Acting Senior
Account Clerk in the Accounting Department, due to tem-
porary vacancy.

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried to grant the request to approve
the appointment of Mrs. Dorothy .Bruce as Acting Senior
Account Clerk, at Step 2 of Range 18, effective 4/17/67.
A memo was received from Police C'iief Kendrick re: status Memo from

Discussion was held re: memo from Chairman Bonelli of the Supervisor
L. A. County Board of Supervisors, dated 5/16/67, re: bid Bonelli's
opening on May 19th for the construction of an interceptor memo re:

District's San Gabriel Canyon spreading grounds in Azusa, Azusa drain -

and unanimously carried that Mrs. Bruce and Mrs. Kearney

change in hours is desired, that an employee must present
his case to the Council, giving the reason why special
consideration is requested.
Discussion was held regarding the proposal of an Ordinance Proposal
similar to the one sponsored by Councilman Lamport of the of Ord.re:
City of.Los Angeles, relative to market carts in the market
possession of patrons and the removal of them from the carts,to
premises without authority, which would impose a $10 fine. be presentee
The Mayor stated he will obtain a copy of this proposed to Cncl.
Ordinance, to be forwarded to the City Attorney for presen-
tation of a similar Ordinance to Council.

and unanimously carried that budget requests re: Account
#5212 (Mayor's Safety Committee) be accepted.
' Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman McLees
and unanimously carried that Account #5230 (Building Regu-
lation) be reduced $2,000, making a total of $205000.
City Administrator Foxworthy discussed the position of a
qualified Assistant Civil Defense Director.
No action taken by Council at this time.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried to adjourn meeting to Wednesday,
May 24, 19671 at 7:00 p.m. in the Civic Auditorium.
