The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned regular session at the above time and place. Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order. Call to Order Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Cooney, McLees, Memmesheimer Roll Call Absent: Councilmen: Solem Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy, City Clerk Miller A memo was presented from Chairman Bonelli of the Memo from Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, dated May 23, Supervisor 1967, giving results of bid opening for the construction Bonelli re: of an interceptor culvert and outlet facilities at the bid results County Flood Control District's San Gabriel Canyon for Azusa spreading grounds in Azusa. drainage work Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Cooney and unanimously carried to file communication. A communication was received from Chairman Zichichi of Pers.Bd. the Personnel Board, recommending an across-the-board recommend. salary increase of 7-21% to bring the salaries of the re:salary employees on a level with surrounding cities and industries. increase (referred to Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio Fin.Com.) and unanimously carried that this communication be referred to the Finance Committee, anc that the Personnel Depart- ment be asked to supply all Council members with copies of the survey from which they reached their determination, with this information to be forwarded as soon as possible. Mrs. Gertrude Kearney, Account Clerk in Accounting Depart- Req.by ment, appeared before Council, giving the reasons and Mrs.Kearney circumstances for her request to continue working hours Acct.Clerk of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with half-hour lunch period. for change in hours Councilman Solem entered the meeting at 7:20 P.M. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Cooney and seconded by Mayor Memmesheimer that, on an interim basis, Mrs. Kearney be authorized the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with half-hour lunch period, but under the conditions that she realize that if the Council receives a request by any other employee for change in hours, the Council should have to ask everyone to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 P.M. ABSENT: Councilmen: None Acct.#5330 The City Clerk will set the date for a hearing before Council on this appeal from the decision of the Planning Commission. Mayor Memmesheimer informed Council that he had received Resignation a letter of resignation from Mr. John P. Melanson, J.Melanson member of the Planning Commission, dated May 22, 1967. to be on As this item will be placed on the agenda of the next 6/5/67 agenda regular meeting on June 5, 1967, no action was taken at this time. City Clerk Miller announced that there will be an item Div.Hwys. on the June 5, 1967 agenda regarding a hearing on June 22, Hrg.6/22 1967 by the Division of Highways, 10:00 a.m., at Hunting- (6/5/67 ton Beach High School Auditorium, regarding proposed agenda) Route 39 Freeway. The budget requests of the following Departments and Budget reqs. Mayor Memmesheimer informed Councilmen of the Old -Timers Old -Timers ' Picnic at 12:00 or 12:30 p.m., on May 30th, with Memorial Picnic & Services at the Old Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Services (5/30) City Administrator Foxworthy stated he had been extended Adm.to and invitation, through the Southern Counties Gas Co., to tour E1 Paso tour their El Paso facilities on June 8th and 9th, and facil.(So.Co requested authorization to accept this invitation. Gas Co.) Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman McLees and unanimously carried that permission be granted for the City Administrator to make this tour. Mr. Abraham Van Wyk, 1235 North Prospero Drive, Covina, July 4th appeared before Council, inviting the Councilmen to a brkfst.& July Fourth Independence Day Breakfast Reception at rec.@Citrus Citrus College, 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., donation $5.00, College sponsored by the "396 Quorum of Seventy", connected with 7-8:30 a.m. the Latter Day Saints Church, with Dr. Max Rafferty as ($5.00 ea.) speaker. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried that any member of Council able to attend may be authorized to do so and make arrange- ments. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Mayor Memmesheimer Adjourn to and unanimously carried that meeting be adjourned to Monday, 5/29 @ May 29, 1967, at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. 7:0b p.m. Time of Adjournment: 9:13 P.M.
