Mayor Memmesheimer called the meeting to order. Call to Order Present at Ro11.Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Solem, McLees, Roll Call Memmesheimer bsent: Councilmen: Cooney Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy; Recreation Director Dangleis; Mrs. Camilla Williams, Chairman of the Park and Recreation Commission; Superintendent of Light & Water Smith; City Engineer Sandwick; Deputy City Clerk Roehrich. A letter was received from the Southern California Rapid Req.by SCRTD Transit District, urging the City's support re: A.B. #20923 to support which would delete exemption from sales and use tax for fuel. AB 2092 re: nation be effective immediately; also a recommendation from adding sales After discussion, it was moved by Councilman McLees, seconded tax ongasoline by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried that no action be (no action at taken by Council at this time. this time) Notice from Acting Superintendent of Public Works Sandwick Notice of re: suspension of L. R. Myers, Equipment Operator, for the Suspension period of May 23 and 24, inclusive. (L.R.Myers) Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman McLees and oneonanimously carried that the Notice of Suspension be received khnd filed. e City Administrator -submitted a request from the Police Confirmation Chief for confirmation of the appointment of Nancy Winecke of appt.of as probationary Poundmaster, effective 5/16/67. Nancy Winecke Thompson from Working Lineman Foreman to Electrical Service as Poundmaster. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem effective and unanimously carried to confirm the appointment of Nancy 5/16/67 Winecke as Poundmaster, as requested. 5/29/67) The City Administrator presented a letter of resignation from Resignation of Fireman K.F. Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Solem nd unanimously carried ttat authorization be granted to ppoint the next available man on the eligibility list for ireman. The City Administrator presented a request from the Superin- Promotion from tendent of Light and Water for permission to promote Floyd Elig.List of Thompson from Working Lineman Foreman to Electrical Service F.Thompson as Foreman at Step 51 effective 5/29/67; Mr. Thompson was #1 Elec.Service on the eligibility list. Reit as probationary Lineman at Step 4, effective 5/29/67. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried that confirmation of the appointment Mr. Reit be approved, as requested. tf recommendation was received from the Chief of Police that Appvl.of he offer from Laidlaw's Harley Davidson Motorcycle, Police sale of Unit 800 (less radio and radio equipment), be accepted. 1962 H.D. Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Solem and Motorcycle, Unit 800,to unanimously carried that Council approve the sale of the 1962 Harley Laidlaw's for Davidson Motorcycle, Police Unit 800 to Laidlaw's $451. Hunter Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried that Mrs. Hunter's letter be accepted and filed. The City Administrator submitted a memo from Poli.woman Req.approp. Hunter, informing Council of tentative plans for the Azusa of $100 for Police Department to host an educational training session for hosting Women the State Women Peace Officers' Association on 9/23/67, with Peace Officers the request that Council consider appropriating a sum not to Assn.se'ssion �xceed $100 to defray the organizational and technical costs or the one day's session. No action taken by Council. Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman McLees and Acct.#5090 unanimously carried that budget re uests re: Account #5090 (Govt.Blds) (Government Buildings -Public Works be accepted, subject to possible change by reason of personnel increase. t5oved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem Acct.#5611 d unanimously carried that Object Account #200, under Account (Parks) 611, (Parks), be reduced $1,350, making a total of $15,150. 6bi.AKt.200 Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman McLees and Obj.Acct.230 unanimously carried that Object Account #230 (Parks) be reduced $100, making a total of $800. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem and Obj.Acct.250 unanimously carried that Object Account #250 (Public Works) be reduced $100, making a total of $900. Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman McLees and Obj.Acct.255 unanimously carried that Object Account #255 be reduced $1,500, making a total of $39,500. Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Rubio and unanimously carried that budget requests re: Account #5320 (Public Works) be accepted as amended, with Object Accounts in 300 and 400 series and personnel to be considered later. Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman McLees and Acct.#5612 unanimously carried that budget requests re: Account #5612 (Parkways) (Parkways - Public Works) be accepted as submitted. e City Administrator reminded Council of the inspection of the Reminder of M #1130 Computer on May 31st at 6:30 p.m., at 510 South Vernon IBM demon- enue, Los Angeles (change of address); also that there will be stration catered dinner in order to avoid loss of time. Mayor Memme- 5/31/67, sheimer said he had made the suggestion to the IBM representa- 6:30 p.m. tive that the Police and Fire Chiefs also attend. Mrs. Camilla Williams, Chairman of the Park and Recreation Pk.& Rec. Commission, requested that the Commission be notified when the wish to be capital improvements part of the proposed budget will be taken notified when up. Council agreed to this request. cap.impr.will be discussed. Mayor Memmesheimer notified Council of invitation from the Baldwin Pk. City of Baldwin Park to attend their brief ceremony to observe ceremony re: the completion of their latest street improvement project, B.P.Blvd. Baldwin Park Boulevard, on Monday, June 5th, at 11:00 a.m. The proj.,6/5 Mayor said he would be unable to attend, and asked if any Counci all a.m. members could represent the City.. After discussion re:Resolution that Council instructed the City Attorney to prepare at 5/17/67 meeting (adopting new salary and job specs for Accounting Director) it was Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Rubio and nanimously carried that the new salary range and duties set up r Accounting Director, as recommended by the Pers6nnel Board, come effective upon the employment of the new employee iri lis classification. Council suggested that the City Attorney be notified of this motion. Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Solem and unanimously carried that the meeting be adjourned.
