CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1967
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place
Mayor Cooney called the meeting to order and led in the
salute to the flag.
Invocation was given by Reverence W. C. Schnute of Concor-
dia Lutheran Church.

Council actions of 11-20-67 were presented for Council
approval.
There being no corrections or additions, Council Actions

The tabled item recommending by City Administrator for
Director of Public Works and Superintendent of Light &
Water to accept proposal of James M. Montgomery, Consulting
Engineers, Inc., for engineering services for re-examination
of Azusa Water System facilities was presented to Council

Moved by Counsilman Solem, seconded by Councilman Rubio and
unanimously carried to raise from the table.

and unanimously carried to grant request with 10% leeway on
inventory in order to complete sales of paint and wallpaper.
A communication was received from City of Glendora re: Comm. from Cty
continuation of mutual aid for fire services with said of Glendora re:

Moved by Councilman Solem, seconded by Councilman Calvert
and unanimously carried to authorize City Clerk to write to
City of Glendora that Azusa would be willing to sign agreement
with County, but as yet they have not agreed to enter into a
mutual aid pact for fire services.
Request was received from City of Lakewood re: City's
position on Southern California Rapid Transit District's
preliminary plan.
Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried to table item to 12/18/67 meeting.

unanimously carried to approve preliminary plans and exterior

and unanimously carried to approve recommendations contained
in Finance Committee's report.
City.Clerk requested Council determination of election Election machines
system to be used on April 9, 1968. Paper ballots or the
use of the new vote recorder; the latter would necessitate
addtional funds in the amount of $500 or $600.

unanimously carried to approve use of voting machines for
municipal election on 4-9-68.
Councilman Rubio reported on the Personnel Board meeting
that he attended as ex -officio Council Member. No action
taken by Council.
Acting City Attorney read proposed modification of Section
9231.28 of the Municipal Code with respect to retaining
control by Council of any conditional use permit on which it
has acted.

comment from Director of Public Works on the Tel -Plan
Study. Comments from other department heads are to be

Councilman McLees brought up the subject of vandalism to
the activity building being erected in Gladstone Park.
Moved by Councilman McLees, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried that City Administrator instruct
Police Chief to provide complete night time surveillance
at either or both Gladstone and Northside Parks, with
authorization for overtime as required.
Councilman Rubio brought up the subject of the closed
Texaco Gas Station at the corner of Alameda Avenue and
Foothill Blvd. Discussion held. No Action taken by
Council.
Mayor gave a verbal report regarding informal meeting
with Duarte officials regarding area west of the San
Gabriel River.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Solem
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
