Nancy needs letterhead for donation letter for In-n-Out. We need approximately 400 meals donated. They need two months notice for Burger, chips & drink meal. Paul and Marty did a pastel chalk entry for the 6th annual Chalk Festival held on October 7, 2006. The photo of their creation was passed around the table. It is a giant postage stamp with this year's theme "Be Yourself, Spread the Love, Embrace Diversity and Change the World" and the date of the Hands Across Azusa event. For the Golden Days Parade on Saturday, October 14, Paul and Marty made two new banners to carry. Commissioners Naccachian, Villanueva and Gibson marched with other Azusa citizens and students in the parade. There were three banners total: 1) The Human Relations Banner; 2) The second one stated: "Listen to your heart beat, we all beat the same"© copyright protected, All rights reserved; 3) The third banner was a rainbow banner which stated""celebrate diversity". Paul and Marti went to a High School Teacher and Administrator Human Relation Conference"Facing the Challenges of 21st Century Schools" on Sat. Sept. 30, 2006 put on by the L.A. County Commission on Human Relations. A motion was made to ask Riku to serve as our MC by Diana. It was seconded by Nancy. The motion passed unanimously. Nancy asked if we could get copies of the minutes to the City to post on their website. Marty will follow up on that. Paul suggested that we do a tribute to Bayard Rustin, who helped MLK with his social justice work and activism during the civil rights movement which began in the 1950's. It is the 20th anniversary of his passing and it seems that he has not received the credit due to him. Motion to accept by Nancy and Logan seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Coordinator was not present to give her report. The coordinator did submit her report prior to the meeting to all of the commissioners. (the underlined sentence was an amendment to the minutes per Claudia's request during the November meeting). Paul reported on behalf of the coordinator. At the meeting with the Rotary Club Rep. Harry Heflin, Paul suggested that the conference be held for two days instead of one, to accommodate the previous youth conference plans for each group. The Canyon City Foundation is still deliberating. No approval has been given for the conference proposal yet. Interns are not ready to serve yet. They still have background checks and city approval is needed. Meeting Adjourned at 7:50 pm
