The City Council of the City of Azusa met in an adjourned
regular meeting at the above time and place.
The Mayor called the meeting to order. Call to Order

The City Administrator presented the budgets for the follow- Present.of

Account Number 5720 - Central Garage
Account Number 5250 - Civil Defense
Account Number 5020 - City Administrator
Councilman Decker entered the meeting at 8:06 p.m. Cncl.Decker

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert, Acct.#5050
and unanimously carried that the budget requests for Account (Treasurer)
number 5050 (Treasurer) be accepted.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert, Acct.#5080
and unanimously carried that object account 330 of Account (Personnel)
number 5080 (Personnel) be raised from $300. to $600. This
item to be considered with the other 300 and 400 objects.
'Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert,
and unanimously carried that the budget request for Account
number 5080 (Personnel) be accepted as amended.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio, Acct. #5131
and unanimously carried that the budget reauest for Account (Insurances)
number 5131. (Insurances) be accepted.
The City Administrator was requested to look into the Req.City Adm.
differences in premium cost on liability insurance between to investigate
the present 500/1,000 M to 1,000/3,000 M, as well as Steps higher cover -

Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Decker Acct. #5132
and unanimously carried that the budget request for Account
number 5132 (Sick Leave Fund) be accepted.
Moved by Councilman Calvert, seconded by Councilman Cooney, Acct. #5190
and unanimously carried that the budget request for Account (Central
number 5190 (Central Stores) be accepted. Stores)
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Decker Acct. #5720
and unanimously carried that the budget request for Account (Central
number 5720 (Central Garage) be accepted. Garage)
'Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Decker, Acct. #5250
and unanimously carried that the budget requests for Account (Civil
number 5250.(Civil Defense) be accepted. Defense)
It was noted by the City Administrator that the budget for
Civil Defense made allowance for the hiring of a full time
Assistant Civil Defense Director per the requirement set
down by the Federal Government when cities use federal funds
in Civil Defense as this city is in building the new Police
Facilities.

Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Calvert
and unanimously carried that the budget request for Account
number 5020 (City Administrator) be accepted.
The City Administrator recommended to Council that the
Personnel Board be requested to create the position of
E.D.P. Programmer/Analyst to be part of the Data Processing
program of the City.
'Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert
and unanimously carried that the Personnel Board be authorized
to draw up the requirements for the position of E.D.P.
Programmer/Analyst along with classification, duties, and
salary to be submitted to Council.
It was noted that an error had been made in the advancement
of J. Skinner, Civil Engineering Assistant. At the time he
was placed on Step five it was not properly indicated that
he had an E.I.T. Therefore, it was requested that he be
properly placed in the Classification of Engineering Assis-
tant with E.I.T. at range 39, step 5, effective immediately

and unanimously carried that the request be granted and
J. Skinner be placed at Range 39, Step 5, effective immed-
iately.
A communication was presented from the Chamber of Commerce
announcing their Installation Dinner to be held on.June 27,
1968, at 7:00 p.m. on the patio of the Monrovia Nursery,
tickets cost $5.00 each.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried by roll call that authorization be
given for all Councilmen, City Administrator, City Clerk,
and all department heads, and wives to attend the Annual
Installation Dinner of the Chamber of Commerce on June 27,
1968.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert,
and unanimously carried by roll call that the City Council-
men, City Administrator, City Clerk, all department heads,
and wives be authorized to attend the City Employees Dinner
at the Covina Bowl honoring the retirement of A. Kendrick
and V. Smith on June 28, 1968, at 6:30 p.m., cost of tickets
$6.00 each.
The recommendation of the Personnel Board was presented to
Council regarding the proposed.restructure of the Light and
Water Department. It was proposed that there be established
new classifications entitled: Director of Utilities, at
Range 66 (which range would also be established) $1336-$1624;
Electric Utilities Superintendent, Ran-P-
0
ange 55 $995-$1210, and
Water Utilities Superintendent, Range 45, $M41019. It
was further recommended that the present Electric General
Foreman be reclassfi.ed to the position of Electric Utilities
Superintendent and placed on step 3, range 55.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Calvert,
and unanimously carried that this recommendation on the
restructure of the Light and Water Department be tabled
until the August 5, 1908, meeting of Council.

The salary survey and request from the Personnel Board was P. B. Salary
presented. Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Council- Survey
man. Decker and unanimously carried that this salary survey
be referred to the City Administrator to be considered with
all other salary requests.
