HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - November 19, 1969 - CC (2)AZUSA AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19, 1969 11:15 a.m.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order. Call to Order
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Cooney, Roll Call
Calvert, Solem
Also Present: City Administrator Foxworthy, Acting Planning
Director Fitzsimmons, City Clerk Klarr.
The Mayor informed the Council that he had teen in discussion New Prop.
with Mr. Charles Wright, who owns property on the north side boundary for
of Foothill Blvd., east of Citrus Avenue. Mr. Wright had possible annex.
indicated that he was oriented toward the City of Azusa, and to City set at
might even consider annexation to the City. Yucca Ridge Ave
After discussion, it was the consensus of Council that a new
proposal could be offered to the City of Glendora with regard
to the easterly boundary of that territory which could possibly
be annexed to the City of Azusa. Tentatively, the new boundary
proposal appeared to be the prolongation of Yucca Ridge Avenue,
southerly to Foothill Blvd. and northerly tc the Glendora
Mountain Ridge.
Regardless of what north -south line is established, it was the
consensus of Council to make the northerly terminus of such a
line the Glendora Mountain Ridge, and the dividing line between
where the water sheds toward Glendora and where it sheds towards
the Canyon and Azusa.
A map was presented to Council by the Acting Planning
Director showing the easterly boundary of the City. Also, a
large map was submitted showing the proposed annexation by
Glendora.
The City Administrator reported on the hearings in Sacramento
attended by himself and the Director of Utilities, regarding
the proposed taxation on municipal utilities. He reported
that the Edison Company seems to be carrying the fight for
the proposed taxation. Also that, though they say the schools
will benefit, this is not the case because of the type of
revenues this would produce.
Moved by Councilman Cooney, seconded by Councilman Decker,
and unanimously carried that the meeting be recessed so that
the Council may host Supervisor Frank Bone711 on a tour of the
Canyon area and a luncheon meeting regarding the proposed
annexation by Glendora.
The meeting was recessed at 11:38 a.m.
The meeting was reconvened at 2:03 p.m.
It was noted that Cmincil would be meeting with Mr. Ed
'Taylor, Counsel to the City for water adjudication,
at 6:30 p.m. on December 1, 1969, just prior to the
