The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above time and place.
Mayor Jens J. Solem called the meeting to order Call to Order
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker,
Snyder, Clark, Solem
Also Present: Acting City Administrator Sandwick,
' Police Chief Elkins, Accounting Director
Cooney, City Clerk Klarr
The City Clerk presented a Resolution appointing Paul P. Res. #5739
Mendoza to the Planning Commission. appt. Paul

Councilman Decker offered the Resolution entitled: Plann. Comm.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
APPOINTING PAUL P. MENDOZA TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that further reading be waived.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
that the,Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and,
adopted by the following vote of Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Snyder, Clark, Solem
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None and numbered Resolution 5739
The City Clerk presented the Council with copies of the Pol. Dept.
annual report by the Police Department. No action by Annual
Council. Report
'The budgets of the following departments were submitted
for review by the Council.

Engineering Department Account #5310
Street Construction Account #5600
Street Construction (gas tax fund)

The Acting City Administrator presented the Police Pol. Dept.
Department budget. budget

Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Decker amended
and unanimously carried to omit the requested 4th Clerk -
Dispatcher.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried to approve the Personnel request
as ammended.
It was noted that object account #260 should be reduced
by the amount of $821, as this was an amount erroneously
added into the budget.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried to omit the depreciation allowance
of $22,000, from object account #440.
The Engineering budget was presented by Acting City Engineering
Administrator Sandwick. A request was presented for the budget pres-
elimination of the position of Senior Engineering Aide, ented(#5310)
and increasing the complement by one (1) Civil Engineer- approved as
ing Assistant, amended

Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried to approve the Personnel request
including the deletion of Senior Engineering Aide, and
the addition of one (1) Civil Engineering Assistant.
A correction was noted in the listing of Surveyors
on form #110, increasing the amount allocated by $100
due to a mathematical error.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Rubio
to reduce object account #330 by $100 under the item
"conferences".
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried to omit the amount for depreciation
for vehicles of $1,100, in object account #440.
By concensus the Council decided to review, at a later
date, the advisability of purchasing a lettering machine
in the amount of $320.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that the budget request for
account #5310 (Engineering) be approved as amended.
The Acting City Administrator presented the budget for
street construction, account #5600.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried that the budget request for
account #5600 (street construction) be approved as sub-
mitted.
The Acting City Administrator presented the budget for
street construction (gas tax funds), account #5920.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by, Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried that the budget request for
account #5620 (street construction) be approved as sub-
mitted.
The City Clerk presented a proposed Ordinance which
would amend the business license section of the Azusa
Municipal Code to increase the amount of revenue derived
from business license taxes. He explained that the
anticipated receipts from this change is already 1 -eluded
in the revenues shown in the proposed budget. He further
stated that if the Council agrees to increasing this
area of revenue, the Ordinance must be adopted prior to
July 1, 1970, to make it effective for the coming fiscal
year. The Ordinance is a revenue producing Ordinance
and wo,,'H take effect immediately upon adoption. but
requiring two readings. It was suggested, by the City
Clerk, at least one of the readings be done in a regular
meeting.
Councilman Decker offered for introductory first reading
the Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO BUSINESS LICENSE
TAXES.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried by roll call that further reading
be waived.

Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Snyder Adjourn
and unanimously carried that the meeting be adjourned to
Tuesday, June 9, 1970, at 8:00 p.m., in the Azusa
Auditorium.
