The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above time and place.
Mayor Pro Tempore Decker called the meeting to order. Call to Order
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Snyder, Roll Call
Clark
Absent: Councilman: Solem
Also Present: City Administrator Sandwick, City Treasurer
Watkins, Superintendent of Light & Power
Gerharz, City Clerk Klarr.
Budget Account 5050 (Treasurer) was presented by the City Treasurer
Treasurer.(Acct. 5050)
Mayor Solem entered the meeting at 4:22 p.m. and assumed Mayor Solem
the chair. entered mtg.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Snyder,
and unanimously carried to approve Budget Account 5050
(Treasurer) as submitted.
The City Administrator presented a written report as to
the status of the proposed budget showing estimated
revenues of $5,723,870. and approved expenses of
$5,5843097. The expense figure also included those items
held in abeyance upon which decisions were yet to be made.
This left a differential of $139,773. revenue beyond
expenses.
The City Administrator also presented a listing of all
capital improvement requests which were still in the
proposed budget, but have been held in abeyance by Council
for a decision at this time. This list of requests
totaled $430,816.
It was noted by Council that in Object Account 430 of Budget
Account 5510 (Parks) there was play apparatus for $5,000.
and picnic area for $2,500. requested for Northside Park.
Councilman Rubio requested that there be allocated $1,000
for the construction of a shelter for the Senior Citizens
using City Park. The City Administrator pointed out that
due to the new construction in the area of Northside Park
a considerable amount of money will be paid to the Park and
Recreation Fund as required by law from the subdivider,
which will be used for Northside Park improvements. He
felt that an adjustment could be made in the request for
Northside Park, whereby the total request of $7,500 could
be reduced by $1,000 with the latter amount being re-
designated to the Civic Center park shelter.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried to red,ice the allocation to North-
side Park, from a total of $7,500 to $6,500, and the $1,000
be allocated for the Civic Center park shelter construction.
'The Council discussed the requested amount for ball park
lighting at Gladstone Park.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried that the matter of lighting the
baseball diamond at Gladstone Park be submitted to the
Planning Commission for study and public hearing as a pre-
requisite before such lighting may be installed.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried to approve all 400 items as listed,
which were held in abeyance, as amended.

The City Administrator presented for discussion the Object
330 requests which had been held in abeyance for a decision.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried that Object Account 330 in Budget
Account 5070 (Planning) be reduced to permit only four,
instead of seven, of the Commission members to attend the
LCC Convention thereby reducing this allocation from $2,100
to $1,200.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Snyder and
unanimously carried to approve all 330 items, which have been
held in abeyance, as amended.
The City Administrator presented the matter of the request
by Fire Chief Torrance for funds to maintain constant manning
at an 11 man level, which had been held in abeyance by the
Council.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Snyder and
unanimously carried to provide in the budget for constant
manning at a 9 man level rather than the requested 11 man
level.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried to approve the budget in its
entirety as amended. ,
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Snyder and
unanimously carried to adjourn.
