E-7
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: ROCKY WENRICK, INTERIM CHIEF OF POLICE
DATE: MARCH 21, 2022
SUBJECT: REQUEST TO INCREASE FISCAL YEAR 2021/22 BLANKET PURCHASE ORDER
ROBERT P. SANDERSON INVESTIGATIONS
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Sec. 2-518 (b) of the Azusa Municipal Code, if the amended contract will exceed
$25,000, the city council shall approve the contract. The Police Department is requesting authorization
to increase the FY 2021/222 blanket purchase order of $24,999.00 for services performed by Robert P.
Sanderson Investigations for applicant background investigations to $46,000.00. No additional budget
is being requested for this request.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following action:
1)Approve an increase to the Robert P. Sanderson Blanket Purchase Order for Fiscal Year 2021/22
to a not-to-exceed amount of $46,000.00
ANALYSIS:
The Police Department uses Robert P. Sanderson Investigations to do all applicant background
investigations needed throughout the year. Applicant investigations are difficult to estimate as Staff
does not know what future employee retirements, turn-overs and number of applicant background
investigations will be needed to hire new employees. However, due to unforeseen turn-over and
vacancies this year, the background investigation services blanket purchase order needs to be increased
to $46,000.00 in order to continue the applicant backgrounds.
APPROVED
