HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-9 Staff Report - SR NOC 3-21-22CONSENT ITEM E-9 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: ROBERT DELGADILLO, P.E., DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER DATE: MARCH 21, 2022 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PROJECT COMPLETION AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE ALOSTA AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO. STPL-5112(020) BACKGROUND: On October 18, 2021, the City Council awarded a contract to Sequel Contractors Inc. for the federal funded Alosta Avenue Street Improvements Project No. STPL-5112(020). The project was completed on March 3, 2022. The proposed actions will accept the improvements and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the project. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1)Accept the project improvements; and 2)Authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the Alosta Avenue Street Improvements Project No. STPL-5112(020). ANALYSIS: The completed project rehabilitated the pavement on Alosta Avenue between Citrus Avenue and Barranca Avenue. The rehabilitation method consisted of a 3-inch cold mill and asphalt concrete overlay. Additional improvements included the reconstruction of ADA curb ramps, sidewalks, drive approaches, curb and gutter, striping, and the construction of two new concrete bus pads. APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 3/21/2022 Alosta Avenue Street Improvements Project No. STPL-5112(020) March 21, 2022 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: A contract for this project was awarded in the amount of in the amount of $730,818, which included a 10% contingency for potential change orders. The project was funded by $631.842.44 (STPL Funds) and $91,161.89 (U tility Mitigation Fund 13), at a total construction cost of $723,004.33. Fiscal Impact Reviewed by: Talika M.
