HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-13 Staff Report - MOU with Azusa Golden DaysCONSENT ITEM E-13 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: MIKI CARPENTER, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES DATE: APRIL 18, 2022 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH AZUSA GOLDEN DAYS NONPROFIT BACKGROUND: The City of Azusa and the Azusa Golden Days nonprofit have worked together for decades for the annual Azusa Golden Days Celebration. The first MOU between Azusa Golden Days and the City of Azusa was signed on June 1, 1969. The latest and most recent MOU was signed on September 6, 2005. Staff have been directed by Council to review and update a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1) Approve an agreement with Azusa Golden Days nonprofit; and 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute the amendments, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, on behalf of the City. ANALYSIS: Since 1949, the City of Azusa has participated in the planning and implementation of the annual Azusa Golden Days Celebration. With the recommended action, Staff will move forward in planning for and with the Azusa Golden Days board and others on the Planning Committee. As directed by Council in the past, review and revised MOU is intended to ensure that the City remains a good steward of public funds and to recommit appropriately to this longstanding Azusa tradition. APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 4/18/2022 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH AZUSA GOLDEN DAYS April 18, 2022 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no direct fiscal impact as a result of this action. However, in-kind support across multiple Departments is anticipated in support of the Azusa Golden Days Celebration. These in-kind contributions represent funds already budgeted. The Finance Division and the appropriate Departmental Staff will monitor activities to ensure appropriate compliance with policy provisions.
