SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF TARGETED GRANT FROM CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY
FOR AN OUTDOOR LEARNING SPACE
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $500,000 from California State Library
for the creation of an outdoor learning space at the Azusa Library. This action accepts this grant award and
approves a corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the 22-23 fiscal year
budget.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the grant award from California State Library; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the budgets accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Library is the recipient of a targeted grant from the California State Library to create an outdoor learning
space for programs and services for the Azusa Community. The approved budget is $500,000 with funds
going to the design and construction of the outdoor classroom space adjacent to the Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions; this grant will support the design and
construction of the Outdoor Learning Space. Upon Council acceptance of the grant, Finance staff will amend
the FY 21-22 and 22-23 budget consistent with the grant award amount.
