TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: ROCKY WENRICK, INTERIM CHIEF OF POLICE
DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2022
SUBJECT: AGREEMENT FOR USE OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SHERIFF/ CORONER/
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR WEAPONS FIRING RANGE FACILITIES
BACKGROUND:
As part of the ongoing training of Azusa Police Department Police Officers we regularly use a range for
firearms training/ and or firearms qualifications.
RECOMMENDATION(S):
It is recommended that the City Council take the following action(s):
1)The City Council approve the contract between the San Bernardino County Sheriff/ Coroner/
Public Administrator and the City of Azusa, pursuant to AMC Section 2-517(12) Solicitations
and Bidding Exceptions for Payments to other Government units; for use of range facilities not
to exceed the $5,000.00.
ANALYSIS:
In order to stay proficient, members of the Azusa Police Department regularly train at firearms facilities.
The range facilities at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Range allow for multiple officers to train at
once, and also allow for officers to train with their department issued rifles, which our own facilities are
not currently equipped to do so.
