SUBJECT: REQUEST TO APPROVE PURCHASE OF NODE FOR VX-RAIL HYPERCONVERGED
APPLIANCE FROM CONVERGE ONE
BACKGROUND:
The city currently has a VX-Rail Hyperconverged Appliance that supports all of the virtual servers. It is
over 4 years old and with the addition of multiple virtual servers and databases it is necessary to expand
our storage.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions:
1)Waive the competitive bidding process as authorized under Azusa Municipal Code section 2-
517(38) Solicitation and Bidding exceptions; Computers, Computer Components; and
2)Approve the purchase of the node for Hyperconverged Virtual Appliance and installation
services from ConvergeOne, not to exceed amount of $ 61,000.
ANALYSIS:
The City has been using the existing VX-Rail Hyperconverged Appliance for Virtualization of servers.
With the addition of many virtual machines replacing physical servers there need to expand capacity
on the appliance. We now use virtual machines as the primary way to create new servers and storage.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this project were allocated in the Capital Outlay Budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 for under
accounts 4649930000-7142 and 4649942000-7142.
