The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular sessipn at the above ,time -and place.,,
Mayor,Solem called the meeting -to order. Call to Order
Present at Roll Cali.: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Snyder,
Clark, Solem
Also Present: City Administrator Dangleis, City Treasurer.
Talley, Director -Parks & Recreation Guarrera,
President of the Chamber of Commerce Zimmerli,.

The City Administrator presented the following Budget Accounts
for review by, Council:
##5050 - City Treasurer
,##5100 - Community Promotion
45510 - Parks
45512 - Parkway Trees
##5515 = Recreation
The City Administrator presented Budget Account 6100
(Community Promotion) for review by the Council. Mr.
Louis Zimmerli, President of the Chamber of Commerce
submitted a 'budget which had been adopted by the Chamber
Board of Directors., The budget indicated the same receipts
from the City;as herb atlocated•-last.year.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried to approve Budget Account ##5100
(Community Promotion) as submitted.

##500 (City Treasurer) for review by Council. ,)
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that Budget Account ##5050 (City
Treasurer) be approved as submitted.

Park & Recreation Director Joe Guarrera presented Budget Parks
Account ##5510 (Parks) for review by Council. He further cc .##5510)
submitted three letters from the Park & Recreation Commission
for Council consideration.
The first letter recommended that the vacant lot on the
south-west corner of Foothill and Azusa Avenues be made
into a small, temporary park. He indicated that the park
could a made by seeding the area with grass for approxim-
ately $1,800, including portable tree wells, benches, etc.
If the area were sodded it'would cost $3,500.
It was the consensus of Council that this matter be placed
with the items considered "pending".
The second letter recommended that the City make a policy
of annually purchasing land' to increase the number, and
area of parks`n the City.
'Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that the letter be received and
filed. �.
The third letter was the recommendation that the City
help underwrite a new drama program through the Recrea-
tion Department. The\Young People's Summer,Playhouse,
a joint Azusa -Glendora `venture, had been allocated $1,500
through the Glendora Recreation Department by that City,

This would provide initial money until revenue from
gate receipts begin.
Moved by Councilman Rubio, seconded by Councilman Decker
that the letter be received and filed. Motion.darried by
the following vote of Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Clark, Solem
NOES: Councilmen: Snyder
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried that the following items be approved:
Object Account #420, New bleachers $1,000; Expansion of
snack bar $2,500.
Object Account $430, Fencing at Gladstone Park along
Pasadena Avenue $860; fencing at
Slauson Park near backstop $520;
relighting of rooms at Recreation
Center $1,500; and addition of
ballet bars and mirrors at recrea-
tion center $300.
and omit all other requests in those accounts.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman -Snyder
and unanimously carried to approve the items of a dump
truck $4,000, and re -keying of buildings $550 in Object
Account #440, and omit all other requests in that account.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Decker
'and unanimously carried that Budget Account #5510 (Parks)
be approved as amended.
Park and Recreation Director Guarrera presented Budget 'Parkway Trees
Account #5512 (Parkway Trees) for review by Council. (Acct. #5512)
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that Budget Account #5512 (Park-
way Trees) be approved as submitted.
Park and Recreation Director Guarrera presented Budget Recreation
Account #5515 (Recreation) for review by Council. (Acct.#5515)
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried to approve the following items:
durolicating machine $12200 and seven record players
$600, in Object Account #3+40, and omit all other requests
in that account.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried to approve Budget Account #5515
(Recreation) as amended.
Accounting Director Cooney submitted a proposed report City's plans re:
showing the City's plans for expenditure of Revenue expenditure of
Sharing Funds for the entitlement period of January 1 Revenue Sharing
through June -30, 1973. The amount is estimated at Funds
$161,706. He indicated that it is necessary to publish
this report and requested approval for publication by
Council.

:Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Snyder
and unanimously carried to authorize the publication of
the report.
The City Administrator presented for Council's interest, Plans re:
preliminary proposed drawings for the remodeling of the remodeling of
City Auditorium. No action taken by Council. Cty. Auditorium
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio Adjourn
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
