The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the,above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in the Call to Order
salute to the flag.
Present at Roll Call: .Councilmen Rubio, Decker, Clark, Roll Call
Solem
Absent: Councilman Snyder
Also Present: City Administrator Dangleis, Director of
Public Works Wells, Police Chief Elkins,
Deputy City Clerk Roehrich
The Mayor welcomed the participants in the Sister City Welcome to
Youth Exchange from Zacatecas, Mexico (Sister City), who exchange
were present in the audience with their chaperone, Miss students from
Anita Montez. He publicly thanked the Governor and Mayor Sister City -
of Zacatecas and the chaperone for their continued partici- (Zacatecas),

Councilman Rubio gave a speech of welcome.
The City Council, with Councilman Rubio as interpreter,
presented mementos of their visit, with gifts for their
parents, to the following students:

Juan Lopez
Juan CastanNeda
Judith Navarro
Jose i�uiz
Julio Espinosa
Cutherto Espinosa
Luis Ruiz

and their chaperone, Miss Anita Montez.
The Mayor thanked the people of Azusa for making this
exchange program possible by working so diligently to
make it a success.
Paul Mendoza asked the youth from Azusa to introduce
themselves and their chaperone, Mrs. Linda Trujillo.
A proposed Resolution was presented, approving the Res. #6123
report of the Street Superintendent re: Weed Abatement. appvg. Weed
Abate. Report
Councilman Decker offered the Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE REPORT
OF THE STREET SUPERINTENDENT OF THE CITY RELATIVE TO
THE ABATEMENT OF WEEDS AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 39560
THROUGH AND INCLUDING SECTION 39587 OF THE GOVERNMENT
CODE.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
and unanimously carried that further reading be waived.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Rubio
that the Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of Council:

AYES: Councilmen: Rubio, Decker, Clark, Solem
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: Snyder and numbered Resolution 6123.
The Director of Public Works addressed Council regarding Appve.filing
a Federal Aid Program funded under the Highway Safety applic.with Stat
Act, whereby the City could qualify for expenditure of for $28,000
funds for special reports on traffic control devices, 'funding under
traffic application surveillance, etc., to spot trouble Highway Safety
at any of the City's street intersections. He requested Act
.authorization to make an application to the State for
$28,000. He has already firmed a preliminary request for
such funding and has been notified thou the City qualifies,
and the necessary application forms need to be filed with
the State.
Moved by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried to approve the filing of an
application with the State for funding of $28,000 under
the Highway Safety Act.
The Mayor noted that Council will meet in an adjourned Adjourn to
session with Supervisor Schabarum on Friday morning, 8/3/73, 7:30 a.m

and unanimously carried that the meeting be adjourned
to Friday, 8/3/73, at 7:30 a.,...,'at Sambo's Restaurant,
855 E. Alosta Avenue, Azusa.
