regular session at the above time and place.

Solem
Absent:
Councilmen: Rubio
Also Present: City Administrator Danglels, Members of
the City Hall Architectural Study Com-
mittee, City Clerk Klarr
The City Administrator submitted a letter signed by
Mayors of the San Gabriel Valley to the Director of the
California Department of Transportation, urging the
inclusion of State Route 30 into the Interstate System,
along with the Foothill Freeway, so that construction of
a freeway along Route 30 would be accelerated. The City
Administrator recommended that the Mayor be authorized
to sign this letter with the other mayors representing
cities from Glendale to Redlands.
Moved by Councilman Snyder, seconded by Councilman Clark
and unanimously carried to authorize the Mayor to sign
the letter.
The Mayor recognized the attendance of the City Hall
Architectural Study Committee and asked for participa-
tion by the Committee Members in the discussion during
the evening. He thanked them for their work to this
point and expressed the desire of Council that they
continue with this program to its completion.
The following architectural firms each gave a half-hour
presentation:
1) Ken Heil, A.I.A. & Associates, of West Covina,
represented by Ken Heil and associates.
2) Heitschmidt/Mounce/Associates, of Los Angeles,
represented by Wendell Mounce and Richard Santos.
3) Koebig & Koebig, of Los Angeles, represented by
Fred Dinger and Mel Whitcomb.
4) Ruhnau, Evans & Steinmann, A.I.A., of Riverside,
represented by Arthur F. Krause and E. Kurt
Steinmann.
Representatives of each firm discussed with both Council
and Members of the Committee a need to maintain the same
motif as presently exists in the City Hall architecture,
the problem with retaining the facade in the front of
City Hall, the length of time (approximately two years)
from letting of architectural agreement to completion of
construction, architectural fees based upon nationally
published schedules, and various other concerns as express-
ed by individuals. Each firm assured the City that a
principal of the firm would work directly with the pro-
ject.
At the end of the presentations and discussion with the
Committee, the Council, by consensus, decided to post-
pone action until the regular meeting of November 19,
