SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FROM THE CANYON CITY FOUNDATION
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $40,000 from the Canyon City
Foundation (CCF). This grant will support social service referrals through the Neighborhood
Connections (NC) division and lifelong learning programs such as Inspired Citizenship (IC) and
Grassroots English as a Second Language (ESL). Funds will go towards staffing, instructional
materials, program supplies, and curriculum development.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1) Accept the grant award from Canyon City Foundation.
ANALYSIS:
The Azusa Library is the recipient of a $40,000 Canyon City Foundation grant. This grant will
help to support and expand the following Library programs and services: Neighborhood
Connections, Inspired Citizenship, and Grassroots ESL. These primarily grant-funded programs
have served the Azusa Community since 2015, generating the following outcomes: more patrons
connected to housing, employment, social services, and vital benefits through Neighborhood
Connections referrals, an increase in newly naturalized U.S. Citizens through the Inspired
Citizenship program, and fluency in English-language conversation skills and digital literacy for
