CORNEJO, CITY CLERK ADRIAN GARCIA, MMC, CHIEF DEPUTY CITY CLERK DATE: JANUARY 16, 2024 SUBJECT: APPOINT DR. DEBRA G. MANUEL TO FILL VACANCY ON THE PLANNING COMMISSION WITH TERM EXPIRING SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 BACKGROUND: The Planning Commission recently had a vacancy due to Commissioner Brittany Martinez resignation. This term will expire September 30, 2024. This action approves Resolution No. 2024-C05 appointing Dr. Debra G. Manuel (Formally Dr. Debra G. Phillips) to serve on the Planning Commission with term expiring September 30, 2024. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1) Adopt Resolution No. 2024-C05 appointing Dr. Debra G. Manuel to the Planning Commission. ANALYSIS: On December 11, 2023, the City Clerk’s Office received a resignation letter from Planning Commissioner Brittany Martinez. On September 5, 2023, the City Council interviewed applicants for various vacancies to Boards and Commissions. From these interviews a Planning Commission eligibility list was established with four names which three were appointed on September 18, 2023, which leaves the fourth applicant eligible to be appointed. FISCAL IMPACT: Payments for various appointees on Boards and Commissions are included in the city’s approved operating budget. Manuel to the Planning Commission. RESOLUTION NO. 2024-C05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPOINTING DR. DEBRA G. MANUEL TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. DR. DEBRA G. MANUEL having been appointed to the Planning Commission by the City Council, said appointment is hereby approved and DR. DEBRA G. MANUEL is appointed to the Planning Commission for the term expiring September 30, 2024. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy thereof to DR. DEBRA G. MANUEL.
