SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF OFFICE FURNITURE FOR THE
AZUSA POLICE DEPARTMENT
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa Police Department’s current facility was completed in 1999. For the most part, the office
furniture in the south end of the building is original and has not been replaced. After 25 years, the
furniture is beyond its shelf life and in need of replacement. To that end, the furniture has been
budgeted in the current budget cycle.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions:
1) Approve the Department’s request to purchase replacement office furniture in the amount of
$84,915.00, from D&R Office Works, Incorporated; and
2)Approve the waiving of bidding requirements per Azusa Municipal Code Section 2-521
Cooperative, piggyback and multiple awarded bid purchasing with other agencies.
ANALYSIS:
Maintaining a professional and safe working environment is critical to the success of any organization.
The current fiscal year budget allocated $84,915.00 to replace the furniture in question. If this request is
approved, the furniture will enhance the professional appearance of the facility and improve employee
morale and safety. It is also recommended to waive the bidding process per Azusa Municipal Code
Section 2-521 since the quote will be “piggybacked” on Omnia Partners – Public Sector Lead Agency
Region 4 of TXKimball International Contract #R191811.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this purchase are included in the FY 2023-24 Approved Capital Outlay Budget under Account
46-20-310-000-7140.
