HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - March 14, 1978 - CC (2)CIVIC AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1978 Page 6 Acting City Administrator read statement from retiring Councilman Arkison, Following is text of statement: "My absence tonight is not the act of an ungracious loser. Tuesday nights are the culmination of my week's work at my place of employment. If I am not present it causes an inconvenience to other employees. I am disappointed in having to relinquish my seat on the City Council. I feel that in the four years I served, I made major contributions towards the betterment of the City government and the people it serves. There are some matters I pursued which remain unfinished. I would like to have seen them brought to a conclusion. There are other matters which I had intended to pursue had I retained my position on the Council. It.was my mistaken belief that I did not need to conduct an intensive campaign for reelection. My mistake was evident on March 7, as the votes were counted. .+ I thoroughly enjoyed being on the Council, working with N (and sometimes against) my four colleagues, department Lia heads and city employees. My deepest appreciation is extended to those voters who gave me the opportunity to serve for four years and to those who supported my candidacy in last week's election. Unfortunately, for me, there were less the second time than there were the first time. 27` Statement by retiring Counc.
