Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Rev. Frank J. Herber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. ' Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Moses, Solem Absent: Councilman Cruz Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to excuse Councilman Cruz from this meeting. Also Present: City Attorney Newton, City Administrator Dangleis, Superintendent of Light & N Power Gerharz, Director of Public,Works Wells, Chief of Police Elkins, Fire Chief Littlefield, Finance Officer Cooney, Director of Community Services Guarrera, Planning Director Fitzsimmons, City Clerk Solis There being no additions or corrections, Minutes of the March 19, 1979, regular Council Meeting stand approved as written. Call to Order Invocation Roll Call Coun.Cruz excused from mtg. Appvl.Min.of 3/19/79 mtg. Mrs. Debbie Martin, 17612 E. Newburgh, Azusa, spokes- Club Playmate 'person for signers of petition protesting Club Play- mate's exhibition of bottomless entertainment, addressed Council and thanked it for its assistance and coopera- tion in removing protested activities. Council adjourned to Redevelopment Agency at 7:47 p.m. Adj.to CRA CRA reconvened as City Council at 7:48 p.m. "Reconvened Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses Appv.req.to and unanimously carried to approve request by American hold cyclethon Heart Association to hold a cyclethon, Sunday, May 6th, 1979. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Decker 'Appvl.Deputy and unanimously carried to approve request from City Cty.Clk.to Clerk for Deputy City Clerk to attend the 7th Annual attend Conference of the City Clerks Association, in Fresno, conference from April 25 - 27, 1979. Councilman Decker offered a Resolution entitled: Res. #677? commending A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZTB A Ira Calvert HONORING AND COMMENDING IRA CALVERT FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF AZUSA. No action taken by Council. The Planning Commission by Resolution No. 1555 granted a Variance to allow a reduced side yard setback of 1' instead of required 51, on property located at 1110 North Pasadena Avenue (Variance Case No. V-618 - Camilo Lopez). Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry Reconstruction and carried, that the matter of reconstruction of study of inter- lntersectim s of Foothill Blvd., Azusa and San Gabriel sections of Avenues be referred to budget session, and direct that Foothill Blvd., staff provide a rank order of priorities of items Az.Ave.& San concerning capital improvement; Director of Public Works Gab.Ave.at was requested to investigate the possibility of funding Foothill Blvd. from State and Federal sources. Councilman Moses dis- senting. Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker Clean Up and carried by roll call to approve change in date of Week Annual Clean Up Week to April 29th to May 6th, 1979, 'as requested by the Clean Up Week Committee, and to authorize rental of equipment and employment of three temporary personnel for a period not to exceed one month, and authorize an evaluation critique in June.
