Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Father Gilbert Cruz of the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church. Ad School for ad in high school annual. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried to receive and file request from City of San Fernando for City of Azusa's participation and financial support in its lawsuit by Ray Marshall, Secretary of Labor, U. S. Department of Labor re: violation of age discrimination in employment act of 1967. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to receive and file ABC Notice for On -Sale Beer and Wine, eating place (original Application) for Marie Casillas and Steve Rappa for premises located at 1155 East Alosta Avenue. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to approve request for transfer of Secretary from City Clerk's Department to another Department with consideration of possible changes to employee complements of both departments. Councilman Fry repeated Council policy regarding request ' for attendance by City employees at various meetings. All such requests should go to City Administrator for departments outside Personnel Departments jurisdiction. The Planning Commission by Resolution No. 1557 denied P.C.Res.#1557 Variance to allow waiver of the two -car garage requirement denied Var. on the property located at 410 North Virginia Avenue (Case V-617 - (Variance Case No. V-617 - Mel Barlow). No action taken Mel Barlow) by Council. The Planning Commission by Resolution No. 1558 denied 4 Variance to allow seven (7) carports instead of the required eleven (11) garages and useable open area in common of 1,160 sq. ft. instead of the required 2,800 sq. ft. on property located at 527 North Alameda Avenue Variance Case No.V619 - George Goode). Councilman Cruz requested City Treasurer to provide report on investments within the City of Azusa. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Cruz Appvl.Urban and unanimously carried by roll call to approve agreement Futures rehab. with Urban Futures, Inc. for housing rehabilitation program. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Fry Appvl.quot.for and unanimously carried by roll call to approve liability in - quotation from Huntington Associates for the City's surance Liability Insurance covering the period from May 12 1979 to April 30, 1980. Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Cruz Retired Empl. and unanimously carried to refer letter signed by Ltr.refer to several retired City employees requesting a ?% increase budget session in retirement benefits to budget session. Councilman Cruz requested a report on traffic conditions 6th & Azusa at Sixth and Azusa Avenues. parking rpt. Councilman Decker offered a Resolution authorizing Res.#6778 payment of warrants issued by the City, which the City re:Warrants Clerk read in full entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND SPECIFYING THE FUNDS OUT OF WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried by roll call that the Resolution be adopted.
