Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in Call to Order the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Reverend Richard C. Addison Invocation of the First Baptist Church of Azusa. I Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Roll Call Moses, Solem Also Present: Acting City Attorney Lennard, City Administrator Dangleis, Finance Officer Cooney, Superintendent of Light & Power Gerharz, Planning Director Fitzsimmons, Chief of Police Elkins, Director of Public Works Wells, Director of Community Services Guarrera, Battalion Chief Redfern, City Clerk Solis. The hour of 7:30 p.m. being the time set for the Public Pub.Hrg. on Hearing on appeal from denial of requested variance to Appeal frm allow seven (7) carports instead of the required eleven (11) denial of Var. garages and usable open area in common of 1160 square feet Case v-619 instead of required 2800 square feet on property located (George Goode) at 527 N. Chief Elkins presented Certificates for successfully com- Certificates pleting the San Garbriel Valley Law Enforcement Explorer to Explorer Academy, to Explorer Scouts Adolph Aranda, Billy Camacho, Scouts Robert DeBow, Robert Gurrola and Rosemary Gurrola. Council congratulated the Explorer Scouts for their involvement and dedication to the community by working with the Police Department. Council adjourned to Redevelopment Agency at 7:51 P.M. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to deny two claims vs City by Janet MacDougall for alleged negligence on part of City for allowing ultra hazardous materials at Norac Co., resulting in death of her son; and for alleged statements made by agents of the City to the press, implicating the deceased son as a causative factor in the Norac Company fire.
