Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in Call to Order the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Reverend Frank Herber of the Invocation Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: .Decker, Fry, Cruz, Roll Call ' Moses, Solem Also Present: Acting City Attorney Lennard, Acting City Administrator Cooney; All City Department Heads, City Clerk Solis There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes of Ap vl.Min.of the August 20, 1979 regular meeting, stand approved as 80/79 mtg. written. Councilman Cruz presented a plaque to Mr. Paul Allen Plaque for his years of service to the City as a member of Paul Allen the Personnel Board and Member of the Cable Television Committee. Councilman Decker presented a plaque to Mr. Paul Mendoza Plaque for his years of service to the City as a member of the Paul Mendoza Planning Commission. City Clerk read affidavit of proof of publication of Notice Inviting Bids, published in the Azusa Herald on August 16, 1979• The following bids were received: NAME AMOUNT Sullair$8,667.62 Ingersoll-Rand Equip. $9,081.02 Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by 0ouncilman Cruz and unanimously carried by roll call to award the pur- chase of the portable compressor, to Sullair, in the amount of $8,667.62, low bidder, and that City Clerk return bid bond of the unsuccessful bidder. Lucero Wilfred Lucero, for alleged damage to uis vehicle due to traffic collision with Parks Department vehicle, on December 13, 1978, and refer to City's Insurance carrier. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried to deny the claim/summons of Linda Rivera for alleged false arrest and battery by Azusa Police Officers on December 27, 1978, and authorize the City Attorney and firm of Burke, Williams & Sorensen to represent the City in the proceedings. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded,by Councilman Cruz and carried by roll call to approve claim vs City by the Azusa Elks Club for alleged sewer damage occuring on December 20, 1978. Councilman Decker dissenting. Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried to deny claim of Alice Kevorkian for alleged injuries sustained when tripping over a section of uneven sidewalk on July 27, 1979, and refer to City's Insurance carrier. Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by'Councilman Moses and carried by roll call to approve claim of Kenneth G. Hibbert for alleged damages to his vehicle by Senior Citizen transportation vehicle on May 223 1979• Councilmen Decker and Fry dissenting. Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to accept resignation of Mr. Theodore Twitchell, Business License/Zoning Inspector, effective August 28, 1979• Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Moses and unanimously carried to approve appointment of Mr. ' Jeremiah A. Dauer, as Business License/Zoning Inspector, contingent upon successful completion of physical examination, effective September 5, 1979.
