HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - January 7, 1980 - CCCIVIC AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 1980 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in the salute to the flag. Invocation was given by Reverend Elmer Nelson of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Moses, Solem Also Present: City Attorney Newton, City Administrator Dangleis, City Department Heads, City Clerk Solis There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes of the December 17, 1979, regular meeting stand approved as written. The Public Hearing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tentative Parcel Map No. 12611, was withdrawn per communication from appellant, Frederick Gotha, Corporate Counsel for VSI Corporation. The hour of 7:30 'p.m. being the time set for a Public Hearing on Conditional Use Permit (C-218) to allow on - sale liquor license within 300' of a residential zone, as petitioned by Kiyohito Nakahara, the Mayor declared the Hearing open. City Clerk read affidavit of proof of publication of said Hearing published in the Azusa Herald on December 273 1979, and affidavit of proof of posting said property on December 21, 1979. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried to close the Hearing. Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker and carried by roll call , to approve Conditional Use Permit, Case No. C-218, to allow on -sale liquor license within 300' of a residential zone, with the stipulation that if parking was to be developed by the appellant for use on property facing San Gabriel Avenue, that a solid block wall be constructed so as to eliminate noise; further that lighting of any parking facility be done so as not to disturb surrounding neighbors; and that City Attorney prepare the necessary resolution. Council- man Cruz dissenting. The hour of 7:30 p.m. being the time set for a Public Hearing on appeal of denial of Conditional Use Permit Case No. C-225, for a condominium conversion of apart- ments on the property located at 1130 E. Alosta, as petitioned by Richard A. Lewis, the Mayor declared the Hearing open. City Clerk read affidavit of proof of publication of said Hearing, published in the Azusa Herald on December 20, 1979, and affidavit of proof of posting dated Decem- ber 21, 1979. Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Moses and unanimously carried to close the Hearing. Councilman Fry suggested that Planning Commission possibly change guidelines for condominium construction within the City with regard to washer/dryer regulations to comply with guidelines set down by HUD, i.e., one washer and one dryer for each 10 dwelling units rather than 5 as stated in Planning Commission Resolution #873. 411 7:30 p.m. Call to order Invocation Roll Call Appvl.Min.of 12/17/79 mtg. Councilman Fry offered a resolution entitled: Res.#6861 re: Crime Watch A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA Program RELATIVE TO CALIFORNIA CRIME WATCH PROGRAM. Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses and unanimously carried to waive further reading. Moved by Councilman Fry seconded by Councilman Moses that resolution be adopted.
