CIVIC AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 1980
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz,
Moses, Solem
Councilman Fry offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 8, 19809 DECLARING
THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED
BY LAW.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker and
unanimously carried to waive further reading.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker
that resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and adopted
by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Moses, Solem
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None
As a matter of record the Resolution declaring the results
of the General Municipal Election is incorporated in the
Minutes.

RESOLUTION NO. 6888
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE
FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 8, 1980,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH
OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.

WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held and
conducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Tuesday, April 8, 1980, as
required by law; and

WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in
time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly
established; that election officers were appointed and that in''all respects
said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received
and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time; form and manner as
required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California
for the holding of elections in cities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 6876 adopted March 17, 1980,
the City Clerk of said City canvassed the returns of said election and has
certified the results to this City Council, said results are received,
attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were 13 voting precincts established for
the purpose of hobing said election consisting of consolidations of the
'regular election precincts in said City as established for the holding of '
state and county elections.
SECTION 2. That said regular general municipal election was held
for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required
by laws relating to cities in the State of California; to wit:
a Mayor of said City for the full term of two years
2 members of the City Council of said City for the full
term of four years;
a City Clerk of said City for the full term of four years;
a City Treasurer of said City for the full term of four years.
SECTION 3. That at said regular general municipal election, the
following advisory measure was submitted to the electors of said City, to wit:
Shall the State of California apportion the existing
six cents sales and use tax so that two cents rather
than the present one cent,be allocated to be used by
cities, counties and special districts?
SECTION 4. That the whole number of votes cast in said City (except
absent voter ballots) was 2860.
That the whole number of abpent voter ballots cast in said City r-
�63, making a total of 2923 votes cast in said City.
SECTION 5. That the names of persons voted for at said election
for Kalyor are as follows:

of the City Council of said City are as follows:

That the names of the persons voted for at said election for City

That the names of the persons voted for at said election for City
Treasurer of said City are as follows:
ROBERT E. TALLEY
That the,advisory measure voted upon at said election is,as follows:
SHALL THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA APPORTION THE EXISTING SIX
CENTS SALES AND USE TAX SO THAT TWO CENTS RATHER THAN THE
PRESENT ONE CENT BE ALLOCATED TO BE USED BY CITIES, COUNTIES
AND SPECIAL DISTRICTS?
That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of
votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective -
offices for which said persons were candidates and for and against the
advisory measure were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached.
SECTION 6. The City Council does declare and determine that:
JENS J. SOLEM was elected as Mayor of said City for the full
term of two years;
EUGENE F. MOSES was elected as Member of the City Council of
said City for the full term of four years;
WILLARD R. DECKER wag elected as ?ember of the City Council
of said City for the fullterm of four years;
ADOLPH A. SOLIS was elected City Clerk of said City for the
full term of four years;
ROBERT E. TALLY was elected City Treasurer of said City for
the full term of four years;
That as a result of said election, a majority of the.qualified
voters voting on said advisory measure relating to SALES TAX REALLOCATION
did vote in favor thereof, and that said advisory measure was carried, and
shall be deemed adopted and ratified.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City
Council of said City,.a statement of the result of said election showing:
(1) The whole number of votes cast in the city;
(2) The names of the persons voted for;
(3) The measures voted upon;
(4) For i•.,hat office each person was voted for;
(5) The nu,ct•er of votes liven at each precinct to each person,
and for and a.rainst each measure;

SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall immediately make And
deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed
by the City Clerk and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk,shall Also
administer to each person elected, the Oath of Office prescribed in the
State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe
thereto and file the same in the office of the City Clerk. Whereupon, each
all of said persons so elected shall be inducted into the respective
ice to which they have been elected.
SECTION 9. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original
Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City,
in the minutes of the meeting at %-hick the same is passed and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON April 15, 1980
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted byy
the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular adjourned meeting thersof
held on the 15th day of April, 1980,by the following vote of the Council:

It was consensus of Council at Councilman Cruz' suggestion
that meeting be dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Jane
Loether who passed away April 15, 1980.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
