CIVIC AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, AUGUST 183 1980 7:30 p.m.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in Call to Order
the salute to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Reverend Paul Kelly of the Invocation
St. Frances of Rome Church.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Roll Call
Moses, Solem
Also Present: City Attorney Newton, Assistant City
Administrator, City Department Heads,
City Clerk Solis
There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes Ap vl.Min.
of the August 4, 1980, regular meeting stand approved 6A/80 mtg.
as written.
Mayor Solem presented a plaque to Mrs. Mary Inez Guzman Plaque to
for her years of service to the City as an employee in Mrs. M.I.

Assistant City Administrator introduced new employee, Mrs. Intro.A.Flor,
Agnes Flor, Senior Accountant,to the Council. Sr.Accountant
Council adjourned to Community Redevelopment Agency at Adj. to CRA
7:38 p.m.
CRA reconvened as City Council at 7:51 P.M. Reconvened

and unanimously carried by roll call to approve the pur- ad Gladstone
chase of full page ad in the Gladstone Linebackers Foot- Linebackers
ball program.

Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Pry Waive Golden
and unanimously carried to waive all fee and permit Days fees &
requirements for Azusa civic groups in connection with permits
Golden Days.
Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Cruz Appvl.Exercise
and carried by roll call to provide space in the Police Room in P.D.
Facility for an exercise room; equipment to be purchased
'by the Azusa Police Relief Association and that in the
event that the program becomes too expensive due to
liabilities or hinders the City in any way that it be
discontinued. Councilman Fry dissenting.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses Resign.R.
and unanimously carried to accept resignation of Mr. Ron Gresko, Reserve
Gresko, Reserve Police Officer, effective August 20, 1980. Police Off.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses Appvl.plans &
and unanimously carried by roll call to approve the plans specs - Proj..
and specifications for the addition of an office and rest- 603 -Mem'1 Pk.
room at Memorial Park and to direct the City Clerk to staff offices
.advertise for bids.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried by roll call to approve the
replacement of the kitchen and dining room floors of the
Woman's Club with quarry tile and that bidding procedures
be dispensed with under the Municipal Code, finding it
impracticable, useless and uneconomical to follow such
procedures and that public welfare would be promoted by
dispensing with same.
Assistant City Administrator advised that the Azusa
'Woman's Club would be closed from August 21st through
August 29th, 1980.
Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried by roll call to authorize purchase
of 8" Hersey MFM -MCT meter in the amount of $5,425.00 and
that formal bidding procedures be waived under the Munici-
pal Code, finding it impracticable, useless and uneconomical
to follow such procedures and that public welfare would be
promoted by dispensing with same.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried to approve Environmental Impact
Report - Negative Declaration, in conjunction with the
hard surface courts at Memorial Park, further that said
Impact Report be processed and recorded with the appropri-
ate agencies.
Mr. James F. Short, 519 Celeste St., and Mrs. Roberta
Baca, 523 Celeste, addressed Council regarding power
outages in their neighborhood. They were advised to
file claims with the City Clerk.
Councilman Fry offered a Resolution authorizing payment
of warrants by the City, which the City Clerk read in
full.

FUNDS OUT OF WHICH THE SAME ARE TO BE PAID.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker
that Resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and adopted
by the following vote of the Council:

Councilman Moses requested that Council be apprised of
monthly inspections, as requested, for blighted build-
ings in the City especially that of 451 W. Foothill
Blvd.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Moses
and carried by roll call to authorize attendance of Mayor
at our Sister City celebration in Zacatecas, Mexico, with
reasonable expenses, further that invitations to attend
our Golden Days celebration be extended to the Governor
and Mayor of Zacatecas. Mayor Solem abstaining.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
