The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the apove time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led 10 the
salute to the Flag.

Invocation was given by the Reverend Fred Kolosick of the
World Baptist Church.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz,
Moses, Solem
Also Present: Acting City Attorney Lennard, Assistant
City Administrator Cooney, City Department
Heads, City Clerk Solis
There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes•of
the August 18, 1980 regular meeting stand approved as
written.
Council adjourned to Community Redevelopment Agency at
7:33 p.m.
CRA reconvened as City Couneil'at 7:34.p -.m.
The hour of 7:30 p.m. being the time set for a Public
Hearing regarding the 1981-82 application for Housing and
Community Development Funds, the Mayor declared the
Hearing open.
City Clerk read proof of publication of Notice of said
Hearing published in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune on
August 23, 1980.
'Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses and
unanimously carried to close Hearing.
No action taken by Council. Second Public Hearing regarding
the Housing and Community Development Funds is scheduled
for meeting of September 15, 1980.

Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses and Appvi remvl
unanimously carried by roll call to approve removal of tree at 916
parkway tree at 916 E. Nearfield, at home owner's expense E.Nearfield
and that replacement tree meet requirements of Parks and
Recreation Department prior to planting.

unanimously carried to receive apd file ABC Notice of off- 575 E.Arrow

and unanimously carried to deny claim of Timothy Kohn for T. Kohn
alleged damages to motor home caused by pedestrian crossing
sign at Vernon and First Street, occurring July 14, 1980.

and unanimously carried by roll call to approve purchase
of ad in the Azusa Herald's official Golden Days Program,
in the amount of $1800.00.

process be re -opened and that notice of bid opening be to be reopnd
advertised in the press.

unanimously carried to approve appointment of Dorothy
Wallace as secretary in the Personnel Department at Step
' 2, effective September 4, 1980; further that in the future,
Department Heads give explanation for hiring potential'

Councilman Fry requested that Sick Leave Report prepared Sick Lv Report
by Personnel Department be received by Council every month.

unanimously carried that complete swimming program be refrd to Budgt
referred to Budget sessions, as swimming season was at sessions
end for this year.
Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Decker Report fret
and carried by roll call that Parks and Recreation Commission Pke&Rec. Comm.
prepare study with regard to swimming program to include
price changes, hours of operation of the pool for
children and senior citizen usage. Councilman Cruz dissenting.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Cruz and
unanimously carried by roll call to eliminate swimming
pool fees for children in the City of Azusa.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried by roll call that supervisor of Mr.
Morgan in the Health Department be contacted with recommend-
ation on the part of the City that owner of record, Mr. Bill
Simpson, be prosecuted for violations of the Health Code
with regard to his building at 451 West Foothill Blvd.

Moved by Councilman Moses, seconded by Councilman Cruz and Plaque for
unanimously carried that plaque be prepared for Mr. Louis L.Mirenda
Miranda for his time, services and help to the Senior Citizens.
Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Moses and Res. for f
unanimously carried that City Clerk prepare resolution Guadalupe Soc.
commending the Guadalupe Society of the St. Frances of
Rome Church, for their continuing sponsorship of the 16th
of September Fiesta and selection of queen.
Councilman Moses offered a resolution authorizing payment Res.#6937
of warrants by the City which the City Clerk read in full. Warrants

resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and adopted by the
following vote of the Council:
