The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in Call to Order
the salute to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Reverend Frank Herber of the Invocation
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Decker, Fry, Cruz, Roll Call
Moses, Solem

There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes of Ap vl.Min.of
the July 20, 1981 regular meeting stand approved as 70/81 mtg.
written.
Mayor Solem presented a plaque to Mrs. Irene Gilbertson Plaque -Irene
for her years of service to the City as Assistant Direc- Gilbertson

Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Cruz Weed Abatement
and unanimously carried to close continued Hearing on Hrg.-H.Van Gin -
Weed Abatement Case No. 81-161, Henry Van Ginkel, find- kel #81-161
ing that weeds on subject's property are a public
nuisance and that the same are to be abated.

to receive and file Los Angeles County proposal for Proposal

and unanimously carried to close the Hearing.
Councilman Fry offered for first introductory reading
an Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
AMENDING THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING THERETO
SECTION 19.48.090 RELATING TO THE PARKING OR STORAGE
OF VEHICLES IN FRCVT YARD SETBACKS ON OTHER THAN LEGALLY
INSTALLED PAVED SURFACES.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker
and carried by roll call to waive further reading.

Public Hearing as requested by William A. Taylor
regarding Weed and/or rubbish Abatement Case No. 81-325,
was brought before Council.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried to close Hearing and allow Mr.
Taylor two weeks time to abate the nuisance as it
exists on the property located at 142 N. Calvados.
It was consensus of Council that time extensions be
given for weed and/or rubbish abatement to property
owners wherein justification for same exists.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried that the Gladstone Band and
Drill Team Booster Club be authorized to paint street
numbers on curbs in the City of Azusa from August 5th
through September 5th, 1981.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry
and unanimously carried to deny claim vs City by
Robert J. Campa, Jr., for alleged damage to his motor-
cycle due to protruding pipe in street at 3rd and San
Gabriel Avenue, occurring May 15, 1981.

and carried that the Azusa Elks Lodge No. 2038 be
allowed to hang two banners across Foothill Blvd.,
announcing their annual chili cook -off at Canyon City
Ghost Town, September 5th, 6th, and 7th, 1981; further,
that all dance permit fees be waived for that charitable
event. Councilman Moses abstained, as he is the property
owner of the Canyon City Ghost Town.

and unanimously carried to approve step increase (Step 2)
and permanent status for A. Paez Park Maintenance
Worker I, effective August 3, 191.

July 13, 1981.

Councilman Decker requested an up -date on proposed Update on
Mini -Park and was advised that the City Attorney had Mini Park
prepared an amendment to the agreement stating that
the City was a self-insured agency, and that the owner
of the property, Mrs. Howard, still had the agreement
in her possession.
City Administrator apprised Council that the Clean Up Clean Up
Committee would be meeting on Thursday, August 6, 19 1, Comm. mtg.
and the first order of business was the street sweeping to discuss
problem. street Swpng.
Mr. Alva, Business License/Zoning Inspector apprised 451 W.Fbothill
Council of repairs being made at apartment house at
451 W. Foothill Blvd., and that said building was
being checked daily. Next court date is scheduled
for August 19th.
