CIVIC AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, APRIL 19, 1982 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Mayor Solem called the meeting to order and led in
the salute to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Reverend Raul Castro of the
Ebenezer Spanish Assembly of God Church.

There being no additions or corrections, the Minutes of
the April 5, 1982 regular meeting stand approved as
written.
City Council adjourned to Community Redevelopment Agency
at 7:34 p.m.
City Council reconvened at 7:35 p.m.

The hour of 7:30 p.m. being the time set for Public Hearing
on appeal from action of the Planning Commission granting
approval for a Conditional Use Permit for a privately owned
recreational facility (children's bicycle moto-cross course)
Case No. C-271 (Siegfried Speckert), as appealed by Johnny
E. Johnson, the Mayor declared the Hearing open.
City Clerk read affidavit of proof of publication of Notice
of said Hearing, published in the Azusa Herald on March 31,
1982, and also affidavit of proof of posting said property
on April 9, 1982.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker and
unanimously carried to continue Public Hearing to meeting
of May 32 1982.
City Clerk announced that bids were opened in his office
on Thursday, April 15, 1982, at 10:00 a.m. for the reno-
vation of Slauson swimming pool.
City Clerk read affidavit of proof of publication of
Notice Inviting Bids, published in the Azusa Herald on
March 24 and 31, 1982. Three bids were received as
follows:

Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Fry and
unanimously carried by roll call to award the bid for
renovation of Slauson-swimming pool to NFL, Inc., in the
amount of $27,103.00;•that the Mayor be authorized to
execute the contract and the City Clerk be directed to
return the unsuccessful bidder's guarantees.

Informal bids for City's Liability, fire and Excess
Workers' Compensation Insurance were received in the
Office of the City Clerk on April 15, 1982, at 10:00
a.m. Two bids were received as follows:

ning Commission.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried to receive and file ABC Notice
new license, for on sale beer and wine, eating place,
Mary Lou Wolf, for premises located at 251 S. Irwindale
Ave., Lu Lu's Kitchen.
Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry
'and unanimously carried to deny and refer to city's
insurance carrier the following claims against the City:
1. Rancho Azusa Homeowners' Association for alleged
damage to copper pipes and plumbing by City water
supply.
2. Manuel H. Magallanes for reimbursement for alleged
excessive water bills for a period of one year.
3. Guy Philip and Patricia Kehler for alleged damage
to vehicle and injuries sustained due to malfunction-
ing signals at intersection of Gladstone and Citrus,
occurring December 24, 1981.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Cruz
and unanimously carried to approve request of Azusa Youth
Club to hold a boxing show on May 1, 1982 at the Parish
Hall.
Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried that request from citizens
residing north of Mauna Loa, south of Baseline and east
of Oakbank and west of Citrus, for annexation to the
City, be referred to the Planning Commission.
'Moved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Moses
and unanimously carried to approve going out of business
sale�;for the Bedder Bedroom, 475 E. Arrow Hwy. for a
period of thirty days, commencing April 16, 1962.

No. 1822 conditionally approved a variance to allow
waiver of the two -car garage requirement on the property
located at 957 W. Third St., Variance Case No. V-750 -
George S. Lopez. No action taken by Council.

tion of Senate Bill 1534, dealing with approval of

It was consensus of Council that area at 11th and San
Gabriel be investigated by the Director of Public Works
to determine whether or not lighting should be installed
at that area.
Mayor Solem and Councilmen Fry and Cruz addressed the
audience thanking them for the opportunity of being
able to serve the City and offered their congratulations
to the new Mayor and Council members.
