The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session in the Civic Auditorium, at the above time and date. 'Mayor Moses called the meeting to order and led in the Call to Order salute to the Flag. Invocation was given by Joe Guarrera, Director of Invocation Community Services. ROLL CALL PRESENT:. Max West Sporting Goods, low bidder, was awarded the Informal bids contract for the purchase of softballs, in the amount softballs of $33.46 per dozen. Ten bids were received and opened in the City Clerk's Office on January 13, 1983. 13. Joseph Hsu, Utility Director, and Bonnie Woodson, Consumer Service Manager, were authorized to attend the California Municipal Utilities Association 51st Annual Conference in Monterey, from February 23-25, 1983. 15. Lease of Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts' 7.5 acre Azusa Water Reclamation Plant site on West First Street was extended to February 22, 1984. 16. Recreation Superintendent was authorized to attend a workshop entitled "Writing for Productivity", at Long Beach, on February 25, 1983. 17. Randy Phillips, was authorized to attend an Electronic Security Seminar in Sacramento, from February 7-9, 1983. 18. RESOLUTION NO. 7226 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS AND SPECIFYING THE FUNDS OUT OF WHICH THE 'SAME ARE TO BE PAID. 19. The City Treasurer's Financial Statement showing a balance of $3,346,415.46, as of December 31, 1982, was received and filed. 20. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION It was consensus of Council that Staff be directed to contact insurance carrier requesting that they investigate the Ochoa premises regarding palm trees that were allegedly cropped by city crews and subsequently died; further, that the Ochoas submit an amended letter to their original claim. CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED TO COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AT 7:45 P.M. CITY COUNCIL RECONVED AT 7:55 P.M. Councilman Latta offered for second reading and adoption an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDIANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REPEALING SECTION 11.28.180 OF THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE ADDING SECTION 11.28.280 TO THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES. Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Councilman Decker and unanimously carried by roll call to waive further reading. Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilwoman Hart and carried by roll call that City Attorney be directed to prepare an Ordinance restoring citing powers to Business License/Zoning Inspector. Councilman Latta dissenting. The City Administrator, John Dangleis, had an announcement to make to Council, as follows: "I would like to advise you at this time, that I will be retiring as of tomorrow, January 18, 1983, as City Adminis- trator for the City of Azusa, with the following understand- ing, which would be placed as part of a motion; when that resignation for the purposes of retirement is accepted, that is, that I be retained as a consultant to the City Council, on-call, at the same rate of pay that I am pres- ently receiving, and that medical insurance premiums be paid for the same three months that I would be a consul- tant."
