SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF DIGITAL RESOURCES FUNDING FROM THE
CALIFORNIA LIBRARY SERVICES ACT
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa City Library has received $4,912 in digital resources funding through the California
Library Services Act (CLSA), administered by the Southern California Library Cooperative
(SCLC) for FY 24/25. These funds will be expended on virtual content that includes ebooks,
downloadable audiobooks, and videos.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1)Accept the $4,912 in funding from CLSA/SCLC.
ANALYSIS:
The Azusa City Library is the recipient of $4,912 in funding through the California Library
Services Act, administered through the Southern California Library Cooperative. These funds
will be expended on downloadable digital content to expand the Library’s electronic collection.
The Library has seen an increase in the use of downloadable books through its virtual Library,
available 24/7, due to their accessibility, convenience, and multiple formats that include ebooks,
audiobooks, and videos. Downloadable books provide for an enhanced reading experience with
interactive elements and enable the Library to offer materials beyond its physical capacity.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions. Upon City Council
acceptance and approval of the grant, Finance staff will increase the FY 24/25 budget consistent
with the grant award amount.
