HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-6 Staff Report - Lunch at the Library Grant Acceptance FY 2526CONSENT ITEM E-6 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: LEILA HASSEN, CITY LIBRARIAN DATE: FEBRUARY 18, 2025 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF A LUNCH AT THE LIBRARY GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY BACKGROUND: The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant in the amount of $16,677 from the California State Library to support Lunch at the Library 2025 summer programming. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1) Approve and accept the $16,677 grant award from the California State Library. ANALYSIS: The Library is the recipient of the California State Library Lunch at the Library grant. This grant provides funding for programs and materials related to the Summer Reading Program at Azusa City Library, Bookmobile mobile library, and offsite locations in Azusa, including Parks and other venues. Summer program components include learning and enrichment activities for youths, teen volunteer and leadership opportunities, free books to build home libraries, and health and wellness resources for families. These funds also support activities that coincide with the Azusa Unified School District summer meal distribution program. Approved City Council February 18, 2025 Lunch at the Library Grant Acceptance February 18, 2025 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: Upon City Council acceptance of this grant, Staff will prepare a budget amendment to increase the FY 2024/25 budget by the grant award amount of $16,677 under account 28-30-513-158-6625. This grant will support summer events at the Library and offsite locations in Azusa. Azusa City Library will receive $16,677 of the award upon execution and approval of the grant agreement, certification, and claim forms. Hard copies of this correspondence will not follow. Keep the entirety of the correspondence for your files and consider these award materials your original documents. This grant is governed by the attached Grant Agreement and Certification of Compliance, which includes the project period, reporting requirements, and payment schedule. The approved budget and application can be found in our grant management system, AmpliFund. Login to AmpliFund here: www.gotomygrants.com Please sign the claim and certification forms at the back of your award packet using the DocuSign system. Should you have any questions regarding the use of DocuSign please contact your grant monitor. Upon receipt of a completed claim form that is free of errors or inaccurate information, the State Library processes it for routing to the Office of the State Controller which ultimately issues the check. The total time for the claim form to be processed, routed, payment issued, and mailed can be up to eight weeks, but is often a shorter timeframe.
