HomeMy WebLinkAboutD.2 - Staff Report - 2025 Meeting Schedule and Cancellation of May 19 MeetingSCHEDULED ITEM
D-2
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER
FROM: JEFFREY LAWRENCE CORNEJO, JR., CITY CLERK
DATE: MAY 5, 2025
SUBJECT: DISCUSSION REGARDING 2025 SUMMER MEETING SCHEDULE AND
CANCELLATION OF THE MAY 19, 2025 REGULAR MEETING
BACKGROUND:
Since 2016, the City Council has modified the summer meeting schedule by canceling the first
regular meeting during the months of July, August and September in an effort to manage the
City’s business calendar while providing Councilmembers and Staff the opportunity to take
vacations.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions:
1)Discuss and confirm the modified 2025 summer meeting schedule; and
2)Approve the cancellation of the May 19, 2025 City Council meeting.
ANALYSIS:
It’s common for City Councils to modify summer meeting schedules as it provides
Councilmembers and Staff the opportunity to take a vacation. Staff believes that scheduling one
meeting per month during the summer would be sufficient to attend to the City’s business and
should an emergency arise, a special meeting can be called.
Additionally, Staff is also requesting cancellation of May 19, 2025 City Council meeting due to
a schedule conflict with a business conference attended by several Councilmembers resulting in
a lack of quorum available to participate in the meeting.
