MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING

The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session in the Civic Auditorium at the above time and
date.
Mayor Moses called the meeting to order and led in the
salute to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Reverend James Herring, of the
Assembly of God Church.

Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried by roll call

CHAPTER 2.17 CONSISTING OF SECTIONS 2.17.010 - 2.17.040
REFERRING TO.TIiE ESTABLISHMENT OF A UTILITIES COMMISSION.
Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Latta
that Ordinance be adopted. Ordinance passed and adopted

Councilman Cruz offered for second reading and adoption Ord. #2199
an Ordinance entitled: Nuclear Weapons
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
ADDING SECTION 8.09.070 TO THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE
PROHIBITING THE MANUFACTURE AND POSSESSION OF NUCLEAR
WEAPONS WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA.

that Ordinance be adopted. Ordinance passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:

The fee schedule for the Azusa Woman's Club, for residents Azusa Woman's
'and non residents, as well as rental policy submitted by Club Fee Sched.

Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Latta,
and unanimously carried by roll call that letters be
sent to California Senators and Congressmen opposing
any change of the public preference provisions of the
Federal Power Act of 1935. (Hydroelectric Project
Relicensing).
Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Latta,
and carried by roll call that report from the Community
Development/Planning Director regarding commercial
parking lot, N/W side of San Gabriel Road (Hunter's
property) be received and filed. Mayor Moses abstaining
from the vote due to a possible conflict of interest.
Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Mayor Moses and
unanimously carried by roll call that Jones Intercable
be authorized to commence with emergency construction
of satellite (CUP presently on file with the Planning
Commission) .
Moved by Councilman Cruz to continue item regarding
request from Jones Intercable for five year extension
of their franchise, died for the lack of a second.
Councilman Latta offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
APPROVING AN EXTENSION. OF THE TEP14 OF THE CABLE
TELEVISION FRANCHISE GRANTED TO CABLE TV FUND 10-C
LTD., AS SUCCESSOR TO CABLE SERVICE OF AZUSA, INC.
Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Mayor Moses that
resolution be adopted. Resolution passed and adopted
by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: LATTA, MOSES
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: CRUZ
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
SPECIAL CALL ITEMS
Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Mayor Moses and
unanimously carried by roll call that contract for
anti -graffiti coating at Slauson and Gladstone Parks,
be awarded to KBV Enterprises, in the amount of
$28,000.00; further, that irregularity of no corporate
'seal be waived, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be
authorized to execute the contract. Bids were opened
in the City Clerk's Office on November 29th and one bid
only was received.

CITY COUNCIL RECESSED TO EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 8:45 P.M.
CITY COUNCIL RECONVENED AT 9:04 P.M.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Regarding Agenda Item I-3 - parking lot, Hunter's property. Action on I-3
Councilman Cruz rescinded his motion to receive and file, Rescinded
and Councilman Latta rescinded his second; a second
motion was then made: Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded
by Councilman Latta and carried by roll call to uphold
Planning Commission's findings that the use was not
legally established as a parking lot prior to annexation.
Mayor Moses abstaining due to a possible conflict of
interest.
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Latta and Auth.$300 for
unanimously carried by roll call that $300.00 be Az Band Boosters
authorized to the Azusa Band Boosters to help defray logo on trailer
costs of painting Azusa High School Band logo on their
trailer.
Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Councilman Cruz Adjourn
and unanimously carried to adjourn.
