MINUTES OF THS CITY,COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 16, 1984 - 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session in the Civic Auditorium at the above time and
date.
Mayor Moses called the meeting to order and led in the Call to Order
salute to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Monsignor Robert Stein of the Invocation
St. Frances of Rome Church.

1984. Quotes are on -'file in the Office of the
City Clerk. The contract was awarded to Grissom
and Johnson, Inc., lowest bidder, in the amount
of $45,940.00. The City Clerk -was directed to
return all unsuccessful bidders' guarantees. The
Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute
'the contract.

Staff Liaison to the Cultural and Historical Land-
mark Commission.

Guard contract with the Azusa Unified School District
be approved'and that the Mayor and City Clerk be
authorized to execute the contract; further, that the
School District be reminded that contract was due the
first of July, 1983, and that said contracts be more
timely in the future.

and file City Treasurer's Statement showing a balance
of $4,749,211.91 as of December 31, 1983. It was
requested that statements disclose interest bearing
accounts and time deposits in the future.

Moved by Councilman Cruz, that action be postponed Az Band
until meeting of February 6th on donations to Donations
students touring Europe with the U.S. Collegiate Band, Cont'd. 2/6
for a complete report and amounts of monies that the (Died)
School District is donating.
Motion died for the lack of a second.

Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Camarena Rpt. on Youth
and unanimously carried by roll call that staff report Commission
on the creation of a Youth Commission specifying goals,
duties, etc., said commission to function without pay and
under the direction of the Community Services Department.

maintenance be provided for Azusa's main arteries, paying
specific attention to substandard housing, weed abatement,
and street sweeping.

a Council Policy Book of all policies adopted by
Council and that book be updated when new policies are
formulated.

ballot measures to be approved by all members of the
Council.

the two other Azusa students, Pam Heck and Mike McQuoon
be given $350.00 each to aid them in attending the
U.S. Collegiate Band tour and that a similar trust fund
be established for those 2 students with the exception
that the amount be $2,000.00 each, and that any surplus
would be distributed to the two booster clubs, also
that students be responsible for meeting payment
schedules.

Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Camarena Rpt. on Youth
and unanimously carried by roll call that staff report Commission
on the creation of a Youth Commission specifying goals,
duties, etc., said commission to function without pay and
under the direction of the Community Services Department.
'Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Camarena Maint. of
and unanimously carried by roll call that increased Main Arteries
maintenance be provided for Azusa's main arteries, paying
specific attention to substandard housing, weed abatement,
and street sweeping.
Moved by Councilman Camarena, seconded by Councilman Pks. & Rec.
Cruz and « carried by roll.call•to direct the Comm.to meet
Parks and Recreation Commission to meet at 7:30 P.M. at 7:30 P.M.
rather than at 4:45 P.M. as is the practice now. Councilman
look dissenting.
Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Latta Cncl Policy
and unanimously carried by roll call that staff prepare Book
a Council Policy Book of all policies adopted by
Council and that book be updated when new policies are
formulated.
Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Mayor Moses
and unanimously carried by roll call that Councilman
Cook be designated to prepare the argument for the
ballot measures to be approved by all members of the
Council.
